Job Title: Guest (Substitute) Teacher

Salary Grade: Substitute Salary Schedule

Work Year: On-Call August - May

Job Status: Temporary

OUR DISTRICT: Clear Creek School District (CCSD) is located in Clear Creek County, Colorado, a short drive west of Denver and area suburbs. Clear Creek serves the mountain communities of Idaho Springs, Georgetown, Empire, Dumont, Silver Plume, and parts of Evergreen. Our county is well-suited for outdoor adventure. PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENT: The successful candidate will be required to complete fingerprinting through an approved fingerprinting vendor and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, within 48 hours of offer acceptance.

POSITION SUMMARY: Clear Creek School District is looking for guest teachers to provide an important continuum of learning and a fresh perspective for our students. Providing a stable, on-going learning environment each day is a critical component in the success of our children's education. In Clear Creek School District, we value what guest teachers can bring to the classroom and rely on qualified, enthusiastic individuals to fill this important role.  Becoming a guest teacher is a great way to be involved with, and contribute to the youth of your community. There are many rewarding facets to the job:

Working with students on a part-time or full-time basis

Building lasting relationships with students, schools, and other teachers

Managing your calendar to be as flexible as needed

Many people use guest teaching as a pathway into the teaching profession. Guest teaching is an excellent way for you to decide if you would like to pursue additional education toward teaching or secure your teaching credentials.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND  RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: 

Carry out teacher lesson plans

Motivate student learning and academic participation while ensuring the integrity of academic time 

Maintain a climate of respect and fairness for all students 

Provide effective instruction as well as maintain discipline and classroom control that fosters a safe and 

positive environment for all students

Assumes responsibility for supervising students in and out of class setting

Maintain student confidentiality

Professional in working with students, parents, and colleagues

Perform other duties as assigned by the principal 

EDUCATION AND TRAINING: College Degree preferred, high school diploma required

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:  The ability to use good judgment and maintain confidentiality.

EXPECTATIONS:

Is flexible.

Has the ability to work cooperatively with supervisors and co-workers.

Has the ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.

Has the ability to perform responsibilities without the necessity of close supervision.

Has the ability to effectively communicate with the school and school District community, as well as the public at large.

Has the ability to meet attendance standards and work the hours necessary to perform the essential functions of the job.

Maintains a generally positive attitude.

Observes all District policies and procedures.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS:  Colorado Department of Education Teaching Certificate, or a 5, 3 or 1 year Substitute Authorization.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:  The noise level is typical of a school district.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Frequent sitting, bending, reaching;  stooping, squatting. Occasional lifting five (5) to twenty five (25) pounds.

SUPERVISORY DUTIES:  None.
