Position Overview

The Guest Operations Driver is a trusted, reliable staff member responsible for providing safe and punctual ground transportation for convention VIPs, invited guests, and supplies. Operating directly under the Logistics Lead, you will drive convention-provided vehicles across the local region, primarily facilitating pickups and drop-offs between airports, hotels, and the venue. This position requires full availability before, during, and after the convention days, as well as physical presence in the Ontario, California area throughout the event window. If you are a responsible driver with a clean driving record and a dedication to delivering top-tier hospitality, this role would be a perfect fit.

Time Commitment
  • Year-round: None
  • As convention approaches: Attend online staff meetings and trainings when requested
  • Convention weekend: On-site presence is required with flexible hours
  • Pre and post-convention: Full availability on the days before, during, and after the convention, with mandatory physical presence in the Ontario, California area throughout this timeframe
Key Responsibilities

Your duties will focus on safe transport, schedule adherence, passenger hospitality, and supply transportation:

  • Guest & Supply Transportation: Operate convention-provided passenger vehicles to safely transport invited guests, VIPs, and event supplies between airports, official hotels, and venue facilities
  • Pre- and Post-Con Logistics: Assist with early arrival and late departure transport runs during the days before and after the main convention dates
  • Informed Guest Services & Decorum: Provide a warm, welcoming, and professional first impression for incoming guests, offering helpful local or convention guidance while maintaining privacy and high personal standards
  • Vehicle & Safety Inspection: Conduct basic routine checks on assigned convention vehicles (fuel/charge levels, cleanliness, mirrors, and safety equipment) before and after shifts, promptly reporting any issues to the Logistics Lead
  • Flight & Schedule Tracking: Monitor passenger arrival/departure updates, remaining flexible to coordinate with the Guest Liaison staff when travel delays or schedule adjustments occur
  • Supply Handling: Assist with the careful loading and unloading of guest luggage, equipment, and departmental supply boxes as needed during transport runs
Qualifications

Required:

  • Full Availability & Regional Presence: Full availability on the days before, during, and after the convention, with mandatory physical presence in the Ontario, California area throughout this timeframe
  • Valid Driver's License & Background Clearance: Possession of a valid, unexpired U.S. Driver's License and a clean driving record. Must provide necessary personal details to complete California DMV Form INF 70 (or equivalent background/record checks required for driving ASC vehicles)
  • Safe Driving & Navigation Skills: History of defensive, safe driving practices and familiarity with navigating Southern California freeways and airport arrivals/departures (specifically ONT and LAX)
  • Punctuality & Reliability: Exceptional time management skills to ensure guests are picked up and dropped off on schedule without unnecessary delays
  • Outstanding Decorum & Confidentiality: High standard of hospitality, professional composure, and discretion when interacting with high-profile guests or handling travel itineraries

Preferred:

  • Fandom & Convention Knowledge: Familiarity with Anthro SoCal, furry convention culture, and event schedules, allowing you to answer guest questions accurately and represent the organization with warmth
  • Local Geographic Knowledge: Strong familiarity with the streets, hotels, and transit hubs around Ontario and the broader Inland Empire area
  • Physical Capability: Ability to lift and maneuver heavy luggage and supply crates (up to 50 lbs) into and out of transport vehicles
