Job description

Purpose of Position/Summary:

Provides rigorous differentiated instruction based on the Indiana state standards in licensed content areas.

 Role Expectations (How we measure success):
  • Gives timely academic feedback to students in the form of written/verbal comments and grades

  • Uses formative, summative, and standardized assessments to inform instruction

  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date grade and attendance records for students

  • Builds a classroom culture that fosters belongingness and safety for students

  • Communicates consistently with parents/guardians

  • Collaborates with colleagues, administrators and support staff regarding student needs

  • Adequately prepares for absences by leaving clear lesson plans and explanation of expectations for guest teachers

  • Consistently applies classroom management and discipline policies in the classroom and throughout the building

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Provides data-informed lesson plans and instruction using Indiana state standards as the guide

  • Builds effective relationships with teachers, students and staff

  • Engages in school positive behavior incentive system (PBIS), discipline matrix, and restorative practices

  • Is involved in school community through participation in clubs, sports, tutoring, and other activities

  • Strives to work and live by The Irvington Way

Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in education required

  • Valid Indiana teaching license required

  • Strong technology skills, competent in the use of Google applications

  • Flexibility to adjust teaching methods and strategies to fit student needs

  • Willingness to comply with ICS policies and procedures
