Job description

We are seeking a highly disciplined, attentive, and qualified Armed School Guardian Security Officer to join our campus safety team in Fort Pierce. The primary responsibility of this role is to deter, prevent, and respond to potential threats on campus, while fostering a safe, positive environment for students, faculty, and staff.

The ideal candidate possesses extensive tactical proficiency, excellent sound judgment under pressure, and a dedicated passion for protecting an educational community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Active Threat Response: Serve as a primary physical deterrent and first responder to active threats, unlawful entries, or high-risk safety incidents on school property.
  • Campus Patrol & Access Control: Conduct continuous interior and exterior physical patrols of campus grounds, monitor entrance points, and verify visitor credentials.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Assist school administration with active assailant drills, lockdowns, evacuations, and severe weather protocols.
  • Community Engagement & De-escalation: Build constructive, approachable relationships with students, parents, and staff while utilizing verbal de-escalation skills to resolve low-level disputes or behavioral disruptions.
  • Incident Reporting: Maintain accurate daily activity logs and write clear, detailed incident reports for school administration and local law enforcement when necessary.

Requirements

Mandatory Qualifications & Requirements1. Certifications & Licensing
  • Florida School Guardian Certification: Must possess a valid, active Florida School Guardian Certificate issued by a Florida County Sheriff's Office (pursuant to F.S. 30.15 / Coach Aaron Feis Guardian Program).
  • Florida Class "D" Security License: Active state unarmed security officer license.
  • Florida Class "G" Statewide Firearms License: Active state armed security endorsement.
  • Medical Certification: Active CPR / AED / First Aid certification (Tactical Medicine / Stop the Bleed preferred).
2. Background & Screenings
  • Age: Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Background Check: Must pass an enhanced Level II background check (FBI & FDLE fingerprinting) with no felony convictions or violent misdemeanors.
  • Psychological & Drug Clearance: Must pass a comprehensive psychological evaluation administered by a licensed psychologist and a pre-employment drug screening (plus consent to random testing).
3. Professional Experience
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of verifiable experience in law enforcement, military service (honorably discharged), or high-level armed security operations.
  • Prior experience working in an educational or youth-focused environment is strongly preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, run, and patrol outdoors in various weather conditions for extended periods.
  • Ability to respond swiftly on foot to any area of the campus in an emergency.
  • Vision and hearing capable of meeting law enforcement active-response standards.
