Job description
Student Supervision and Transportation Support
• Accompany and monitor assigned students during District transportation, including morning and afternoon routes and other transportation assignments as directed.
• Assist students with boarding, unloading, seating, and use of District-approved safety restraints, securement systems, or other transportation supports as assigned and trained.
• Maintain attentive supervision throughout the route and respond promptly to students'behavioral, physical, communication, and safety needs.
• Support the bus driver by promoting safe student behavior and minimizing distractions that could interfere with safe bus operation.
• Ensure students are received and released only in accordance with assigned route instructions and District procedures.
Behavior and Safety Support
• Implement assigned student transportation, safety, and behavior-support procedures consistently and respectfully.
• Use positive behavior supports and District-approved prevention and de-escalation strategies to help students travel safely.
• Respond calmly and promptly to behavioral, physical, or safety concerns and request additional assistance when needed.
• Use only District-approved physical safety procedures for which the employee has been trained and authorized.
• Assist during emergencies, evacuations, student illness, or injury in accordance with completed training and District procedures.
Communication, Confidentiality, and Documentation
• Communicate promptly with the bus driver, Transportation Supervisor, special education staff, and administrators regarding student needs, incidents, or safety concerns.
• Complete required incident reports, behavior records, and transportation documentation accurately and promptly.
• Maintain the confidentiality of student information in accordance with FERPA, District policy, and applicable law.
• Communicate professionally and respectfully with students, parents or guardians, District employees, and the public within the scope of the assigned role.
Training and Other Duties
• Successfully complete District-provided Safety-Care training within the timeframe established by the District and maintain required certification throughout employment.
• Attend required transportation meetings, safety training, emergency drills, and other District-assigned training.
• Observe the immediate student seating and support area and promptly report safety hazards, damage, or securement concerns.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the Transportation Supervisor or District administration.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
• High school diploma, adult high school diploma, or G.E.D.
• Experience working with students with disabilities or behavioral support needs, or demonstrated ability to provide calm and attentive student support.
• Ability to remain alert, patient, calm, and responsive in challenging or rapidly changing situations.
• Ability to follow written and verbal directions, assigned student plans, transportation procedures, emergency protocols, and District policies.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills with students, families, drivers, school employees, and supervisors.
• Dependable attendance and ability to work a split schedule before and after school as assigned.
Training and Certification
• Must successfully complete District-provided Safety-Care training within the timeframe established by the District and maintain required certification throughout employment.
• Must complete other transportation, student-safety, emergency-response, or District-required training assigned to the position.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Ability to support and monitor students with disabilities while preserving each student's safety, privacy, and dignity.
• Ability to recognize and respond promptly to student behavioral, physical, communication, health, or safety needs.
• Ability to use positive behavior supports, prevention and de-escalation strategies, and approved physical safety procedures as trained and authorized.

• Ability to respond promptly to student safety needs and perform District-approved physical safety procedures for which trained and authorized.
• Ability to work in a moving vehicle with noise, vibration, temperature changes, and varying weather and road conditions.
• Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred Qualifications

Job Description
Millard School District is accepting applications for a part-time Bus Aide specialist position based in Fillmore, Utah, for the 2026-2027 school year. This is a single position scheduled approximately four hours per day, generally before and after school.
The Bus Aide accompanies and supports assigned students with disabilities during District transportation; provides attentive, respectful supervision; assists with boarding, seating, safety restraints, securement systems, and other transportation supports as assigned and trained; and follows assigned student safety and behavior-support plans and District procedures.
The successful applicant must complete District-provided Safety-Care training within the timeframe established by the District and maintain required certification throughout employment.

• Compensation will follow the Millard School District Classified Salary Schedule or approved hourly rate for the position.
