What is a GTM engineer?

A GTM (Go-to-Market) Engineer is a professional who bridges the gap between technical product development and commercial teams. GTM Engineers work closely with sales, marketing, and product teams to ensure new products or features are successfully launched and adopted in the market. They help translate technical capabilities into customer benefits, provide technical expertise during sales cycles, and may assist with product demonstrations, solution architecture, and customer feedback. Their goal is to accelerate product adoption and support revenue growth through technical enablement.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a GTM engineer?

To excel as a GTM Engineer, you need a solid background in software engineering, product management, and business acumen, often with a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with customer relationship management (CRM) platforms, cloud services, APIs, and analytics tools is commonly required. Strong communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills help bridge technical and business teams effectively. Mastering these areas ensures successful product launches, customer satisfaction, and alignment between technical solutions and market needs.

What are some typical challenges a GTM engineer faces when integrating new products into existing sales and marketing workflows?

A GTM Engineer often encounters challenges such as aligning technical product features with the needs of the sales and marketing teams, ensuring seamless data flow between tools (like CRMs and marketing automation platforms), and translating complex product capabilities into clear value propositions. Additionally, they must anticipate and resolve compatibility or scalability issues that could impact go-to-market strategies. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams and maintaining open communication is key to overcoming these hurdles and ensuring successful product launches.

Job description

Help redefine customer support for the AI era.

Most companies are running support on ticketing systems built in 2007, with AI bolted on as an afterthought.

Botpress is the enterprise-grade AI agent platform for customer support - built the other way around.

As the 3rd fastest-growing B2B AI start-up worldwide, we're displacing legacy platforms like Zendesk at scale - across industries, regions, and thousands of companies worldwide.

The work ahead is ambitious. The opportunity is rare. We take a deliberate approach to growth: product-led, capital-efficient, and highly focused.

If you want to build the customer support platform for the AI era, we're looking for top talent to join us.

About the Role

We are building a dedicated product growth team, and we're hiring a Growth Engineer to operate as a full, self-sufficient software engineer within it. Reporting to the Director of Product Growth, you'll work alongside our Product Manager and Product Designer on the highest-leverage problems in the business - starting with onboarding, activation, and revenue conversion.

This is not a traditional engineering role. We act as a SWAT team: we go where the data takes us, we move fast, and we change direction without hesitation when the numbers tell us to. The code you write today may be replaced next sprint - and that should excite you, not bother you. Most engineering roles reward stability, depth, and long-term ownership of a system; this one rewards speed, adaptability, and measurable business impact. You will own experiments end to end and be personally accountable for outcomes, not just outputs.

Responsibilities

  • Build, ship, and iterate on onboarding flows, activation surfaces, and conversion experiments that directly impact sign-up-to-paid rate
  • Design and run A/B and multivariate experiments, instrument them properly, and close the loop on what the data shows
  • Own experiments end to end - scoping, building, shipping, measuring - with personal accountability for outcomes
  • Build lightweight internal tools and growth infrastructure when they unblock the team
  • Contribute to anything that measurably moves a growth needle, regardless of where it sits in the product

Requirements

  • 3 to 6 years of professional full-stack development experience; our stack is TypeScript, React.js, Node.js, PostgreSQL, and AWS
  • Hands-on experience building with AI technologies: LLMs, agents, embeddings, or AI-powered product surfaces - you are not intimidated by rapidly evolving AI tooling and actively seek it out
  • Demonstrated comfort owning the full development cycle independently: scoping, building, shipping, and iterating without handholding
  • A genuine eye for clean, well-crafted UI and UX - you don't need a designer next to you to produce something that feels right
  • Low ego about your own code: you build what serves the objective, not what you're proud of; rewrites and reversals are part of the job
  • Strong instincts for experimentation: you think in hypotheses, you instrument your work, and you let data drive the next decision
  • Proactive by default: you identify problems before they're handed to you and come with a proposed path forward
  • Clear, direct communication in English (French is an asset) - you'll be working in a small team where everyone needs full context, fast

Benefits

  • Work with a talented and passionate team
  • 4 weeks of vacation
  • Paid sick and parental leave
  • Comprehensive health, dental, vision, travel, and life insurance
  • Funding for education and skills improvement
  • Fully-stocked fridge and cupboard - we take snacks seriously
  • Your own desk - no 'hot-desk'-style sign-up systems
  • A vibrant office community
