Position Title: GSM Director, University Boulevard
Campus: University Boulevard
Office/Remote: 50% office / 50% remote or direct ministry hours
Work Day: Sunday-Thursday. Weekend GSM events
Job Description Summary:
The Grace Student Ministry (GSM) University Boulevard Director shepherds, leads, mentors, and supports the students and families of Grace Community Church of Tyler through encouragement, coordination, and discipleship. The position exists to walk alongside and assist families in providing opportunities for teenagers to be and make disciples for the glory of God through worship, community, and mission. The average workload is 40-45 hours; however, there will be seasonal times and events that require heavier workloads.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (following are accountabilities included, but not limited to)
  • Lead Grace Student Ministry (GSM) at the University Boulevard campus in alignment with the values and DNA of Grace.
  • Consistently identify, enlist, equip, and motivate key volunteer and student leaders to strategize, plan, and implement efforts to be and make disciples.
  • Collaborate with the OJ JH & HS Directors, with guidance from the GSM Leadership, to execute the agreed-upon game plan for Grace Tyler's student ministry.
  • Eagerly willing to serve the local campus body and staff needs as they arise on Sunday and throughout the week.
  • Utilize the GSM Lifemap to plan and lead discipleship opportunities, programs, and events relevant to middle and high school students.
  • Build intentional disciple-making relationships with students and create opportunities to engage non-believing students in GSM.
  • Plan and execute weekly GSM gatherings, discipleship environments, and global student/family events alongside the Global GSM team.
  • Communicate consistently with students and parents through social media, email, text messaging, and other digital platforms.
  • Actively pursue opportunities to serve the local school districts of our students and be involved with and around students and their parents (ie: school lunches, competitions, concerts, athletic events, and other extra-curricular activities).
  • Understand GSM safety, quality, and character standards and serve as eyes and ears on the ground for students and families..
  • Managing and overseeing the UB GSM budget along with the other local GSM staff.

Skills and Abilities:
  • Mature faith in Jesus Christ.
  • Evidence of Biblical literacy and discipleship experience
  • Evidence of servant leadership and effective large group teaching ability.
  • Ability to communicate and cast vision for reaching middle school and high school students.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and team player mentality.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, calendar management, and timely email and text responsiveness.
  • Comfortable working in a fluid, fast-paced, and collaborative environment.

Education, Training, Experience:
  • College degree required.
  • Seminary training or continued theological education preferred but not required.
  • Ongoing training and development through conferences, discipleship trainings, and mentorship
  • Minimum 3+ years of volunteer or professional direct ministry experience with students is desired.

Work or Ministry Team Context:
Offices at Grace Community Church Office on University Blvd. and operates at the University Boulevard Campus for Sunday GSM programming and Grace OJ for GSM Tyler programming. This position works with and includes discipleship of leaders and families involved in GSM, in addition to working with the GSM leadership and global GSM staff to carry out the mission and vision of Grace Community Church. Partners with Campus Pastor and Campus Development Director in order to serve the mission of the church however needed.
