Job description

Head of Growth and Corporate Strategy
Department: Business Development
Employment Type: Full Time
Location: National Capital Region
Compensation: $130,000 - $190,000 / year
Description
Stratom, Inc. is a mission-driven engineering company building autonomous and uncrewed off-road vehicles and related robotic systems. Our systems operate in demanding real-world environments, where performance, reliability, and engineering discipline are essential. Integrating advanced autonomy with rugged industrial hardware for austere conditions. Our work spans the full lifecycle of complex systems, from early concept and prototyping through fielded deployment. With multiple working prototypes in hand, we are transitioning these platforms into production.
What You'll Get to Do:
This is the inflection point and our opportunity. This role exists to turn that momentum into sustained, scalable growth. You will work directly with the CEO and company leadership to identify and pursue Stratom's highest-value opportunities, build the customer relationships that generate them, and see pursuits through from concept to contract. Success in this role means you've mapped the growth landscape, established credibility with key customers and partners, and closed or are actively executing new business within your first year. You won't have a large BD machine behind you; you'll be building it. The ideal candidate has done this before at a company that couldn't afford to wait for opportunity to come to them. Therefore, we are actively searching for a driven Head of Growth professional to drive substantial growth and play a strategic role in delivering capable systems to federal and military customers at scale
Location Preference: This position is ideally based in the National Capital Region (Washington, D.C./DMV) or the Detroit metropolitan area to support collaboration with key customers and strategic partners. Exceptional candidates located in other U.S. regions may be considered based on business needs and leadership approval.
Duties and Responsibilities
Stratom is seeking a strategic, highly motivated Head of Growth & Corporate Strategy to lead corporate growth initiatives, strategic business capture, partner engagement, and technology fielding efforts. This is a high-impact individual contributor role that works closely with executive leadership to shape and execute the company's long-term growth strategy.
The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with exceptional organizational and communication skills who can translate customer operational needs into executable business, technology, and capture strategies. Success in this role requires initiative, sound judgment, leadership through influence, and the ability to build trusted relationships with customers, partners, and internal stakeholders.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys balancing strategic planning with hands-on execution and thrives in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to executive leadership on growth initiatives and corporate priorities.
  • Conduct research, analyze market and customer data, and provide recommendations to support executive decision-making.
  • Help prioritize strategic initiatives and monitor progress against corporate objectives.
  • Coordinate strategic planning activities and ensure alignment across business functions.
  • Develop and execute long-term growth and business capture strategies aligned with corporate objectives.
  • Identify customer needs, operational challenges, and emerging opportunities to position Stratom for future growth.
  • Translate customer requirements into technical approaches, operational concepts, and funding strategies.
  • Support opportunity qualification, capture planning, and customer engagement throughout the business development lifecycle.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with strategic customers, industry partners, and government stakeholders.
  • Develop engagement strategies, partnership objectives, and collaborative growth initiatives.
  • Coordinate ongoing communication and executive engagement with key partners.
  • Gather customer insights and translate them into technology and product roadmap recommendations.
  • Collaborate with technical leadership to align customer priorities with product development and investment strategies.
  • Support identification of funding opportunities that advance strategic technology initiatives.
  • Lead proposal planning and management activities supporting strategic capture efforts.
  • Organize capture kickoffs and proposal strategy sessions.
  • Develop win themes, storyboards, ghosting strategies, and proposal schedules.
  • Coordinate proposal teams while ensuring deadlines and deliverables are met.
  • Contribute proposal content as needed.
  • Represent Stratom at customer meetings, industry events, and partner engagements.
  • Prepare executive briefing materials and meeting content.
  • Document key decisions, action items, and follow-up activities from customer and leadership meetings.
  • Communicate complex operational and technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.

What Success Looks Like
The successful candidate will:
  • Drive meaningful corporate growth through strategic planning and customer engagement.
  • Build trusted relationships with customers and strategic partners.
  • Develop actionable business capture strategies that result in new opportunities.
  • Help shape Stratom's technology roadmap based on customer needs.
  • Execute with urgency while balancing long-term strategy and day-to-day priorities.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Entrepreneurship, Organizational Management, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in business growth, strategic planning, business development, capture management, or a combination of individual contributor and leadership roles.
  • Demonstrated success developing and executing corporate growth strategies, business capture initiatives, and strategic partnerships.
  • Strong strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate customer needs into actionable business and technology strategies.
  • Experience leading proposal development and coordinating cross-functional teams through the capture lifecycle.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills with the ability to influence executive leadership, customers, and strategic partners.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, complex initiatives, and competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and results-oriented with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Experience supporting the U.S. Department of Defense, federal government, or advanced technology organizations.
  • Understanding of DoD science and technology (S&T), requirements development, acquisition, and contracting processes.
  • Experience developing technology roadmaps and customer engagement strategies.
  • Prior military service or demonstrated understanding of DoD operational, logistics, and combat arms missions.

Additional RequirementsThis position may require access to information subject to U.S. export control regulations, including ITAR and/or EAR. Candidates must meet applicable eligibility requirements.
U.S. citizenship or other required authorization may be necessary depending on program requirements.
