Job Summary

The CHEMFLOW Account Manager is responsible for developing and growing customer relationships within the hazardous chemical processing industry by providing engineered flow control solutions that improve safety, reliability, environmental compliance, and operational performance.


This field-based technical sales position serves as a trusted advisor to customers by identifying application challenges, recommending engineered solutions, and supporting customers throughout the sales process. The Account Manager works closely with customers, manufacturers, engineering firms, and internal technical resources to deliver specialized products including valves, valve automation, safety shutdown systems, breakaway couplings, transfer hoses, and related flow control equipment.

The Account Manager is responsible for growing existing accounts while developing new business opportunities throughout the assigned territory in alignment with CHEMFLOW's commitment to "Solutions with Integrity."


Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesSales & Business Development
  • Develop new business opportunities within assigned territory.
  • Grow existing customer relationships through regular onsite visits and technical consultations.
  • Identify customer process challenges and recommend engineered flow control solutions.
  • Develop strategic account plans for key chemical processing customers.
  • Prepare quotations, proposals, technical recommendations, and presentations.
  • Negotiate pricing and commercial agreements while maintaining profitability objectives.
  • Consistently achieve territory sales and margin goals.
Technical Sales & Solution Development
  • Provide application support for specialty valves, automation packages, safety shutdown systems, breakaway couplings, transfer hoses, sampling systems, and engineered flow control solutions.
  • Recommend appropriate valve materials, automation packages, and specialty products for hazardous chemical service.
  • Collaborate with manufacturers and engineering teams to develop customized customer solutions.
  • Assist customers with product selection, troubleshooting, and startup support.
  • Stay current on industry regulations and best practices affecting hazardous chemical handling.
Customer Relationship Management
  • Develop long-term partnerships with plant managers, maintenance managers, engineers, reliability personnel, procurement professionals, and operations teams.
  • Conduct regular customer visits to identify expansion opportunities.
  • Respond quickly to customer requests and technical questions.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records including opportunities, customer contacts, forecasts, and activity reports.
  • Coordinate with Inside Sales, Operations, and Technical Support to ensure exceptional customer service.
Industry & Market Development
  • Develop business within industries including:
    • Chlor-Alkali
    • Chemical Manufacturing
    • Vinyls
    • Refrigerants
    • Urethanes
    • Agricultural Chemicals
    • Pigments
    • Polysilicon
    • HF Alkylation
    • Specialty Chemical Processing
  • Participate in industry trade shows, customer events, and manufacturer training.

  • Partner with manufacturer representatives during customer visits.
  • Work closely with engineering, operations, and inside sales teams to deliver complete customer solutions.
  • Participate in sales meetings, product training, and continuous professional development.
  • Mentor newer sales professionals as appropriate.

Requirements

Position RequirementsEducation & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Business, or related field preferred.
  • Equivalent technical sales experience will be considered.
  • Minimum 5 years of industrial B2B technical sales experience.
  • Experience selling valves, valve automation, flow control equipment, instrumentation, or process equipment preferred.
  • Experience within chemical processing, petrochemical, refining, industrial manufacturing, or related process industries strongly preferred.
  • Experience developing new business and managing strategic customer accounts.
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong consultative selling skills.
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude and technical problem-solving ability.
  • Knowledge of industrial valves, automation, flow control systems, and hazardous chemical applications preferred.
  • Ability to interpret P&IDs, specifications, and engineering drawings.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency using CRM software and Microsoft Office.

  • Frequent travel throughout assigned territory (50-70%).
  • Ability to drive for extended periods.

  • Occasionally lift demonstration equipment or product samples up to 50 pounds.
  • Exposure to outdoor weather conditions and industrial environments.
