Position Specific Description

As a Business Development Manager, you will support the Florida Power & Light Optional Supplemental Power Services (OSPS) group which is responsible for selling and implementing backup power solutions for customers ,including generators and power conditioning equipment (e.g. UPS). In this role, you will build relationships with decision-makers to drive sales with end-use commercial/industrial and governmental customers. This role works closely with the OSPS Project development team to close sales.

An ideal candidate will be responsible for:

  • Working with FPL’s internal Account Management and External Affairs teams to develop customer relationships with end-user beneficiaries and decision-makers
  • Prospecting for new business opportunities
  • Qualifying high-potential opportunities with the primary purpose of identifying customers that would benefit from an OSPS solution
  • Documenting customer needs and work with OSPS’ Project Development team to define solutions and produce a preliminary cost estimate
  • Delivering OSPS proposal and negotiate close
  • Providing input into the development of territory sales plan
  • Helping develop customer sales and marketing material
  • Developing account and territory planning
  • Working cross-functionally to establish customer relationships resulting in sales for FPL

An ideal candidate should have:

  • Engineering or related technical degree (undergraduate or graduate level)
  • Prior business development or sales background
  • Distributed generation or backup generator experience

This role will be based at Customer Service East office in West Palm Beach, FL, however the work location is flexible.

Job Overview Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Oversees a variety of large-scale projects of high complexity
  • Develops detailed work plans, schedules, project estimates, resource plans, and status reports
  • Secures required resources and uses formal processes and tools to manage resources, budgets, risks and changes
  • Conducts project meetings and is responsible for project tracking and analysis
  • Identifies issues and challenges, measures and validates results, and implements solutions
  • Provides expert information to internal and external clients on complex issues
  • Creates and communicates presentation materials for report out and updates with various levels of internal and external stakeholders
  • Conducts external research and stays abreast of new developments or innovative advancements pertaining to the project
  • Provides coaching, leadership and direction to project team
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
  • High School Grad / GED
  • Bachelor's or Equivalent Experience
  • Experience: 6+ years
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree
  • Project Management Professional (PMP)
