Position Summary:
Support production of continuous high quality sellable products which includes planning, organizing, directing, coordination and supervision of all maintenance departments. Maintain assets via maintenance programs, work order programs, departmental scheduling, spare part purchasing, storage and utilization. Provide budgetary planning to ensure optimum production of products. Support all departments in meeting established goals in the areas of safety, quality, service and financials.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for planning, organizing, directing, coordinating and supervising all maintenance department activities within the facility and surrounding grounds
  • Responsible for the repair and maintenance of the plant facility and equipment within operating budget to ensure optimum production of products
  • Responsible for safe operations and maintenance of all utility systems including steam generating and distribution nh3 refrigeration, compressed air, wastewater treatment and auxiliaries. Responsible for upkeep of facility components and surrounding grounds. Ensure the continuation of preventive maintenance (PM) and work order programs for production and building equipment and/or assets. Lead continuous improvement activities in areas of responsibility
  • Coordinate projects and activities with outside contractors, state and local governmental agencies, inspectors and vendors. Environmental documentation and filing for PSM, EPA, storm water, wastewater, sludge removal, chemical storage and all waste streams
  • Asset utilization, additions and augmentations; systems evaluations, capital improvement planning and request for expenditures authoring
  • Direct maintenance supervisor in daily activities of enforcement of company policies and procedures in the area of safety, GMPs, regulatory compliance and employee relations
  • Evaluate and implement necessary and proper training for maintenance employees. Lead recruiting, onboarding and training activities for new technicians and maintenance employees
  • Responsible for following all food safety policies, procedures and regulatory criteria including the current SQF code, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) and associated preventive controls
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Travel may be required

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience is required
  • 5+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment, with increasing levels of managerial responsibility with demonstrated CMMS/EAM, MRO & budget management experience is required
  • Experience leading root cause analysis & breakdown elimination programs is required
  • Familiarity with ammonia/PSM, wastewater and generator/boiler experience is required
  • Ability to work efficiently cross-functionally is required
  • Ability to travel 5%
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering very helpful
  • Assisting with capital projects is preferred
  • Experience managing a unionized department is desired
  • Knowledge and experience of the following: The use and welding of all alloys, including all non-ferrous metals -tig- arc-mig, power transmission, hyd., pneumatics, HVAC, electrical systems-main power-controls-electrical / mechanical, PLC, VFD, all fields of electrical is highly preferred
  • High speed food and beverage manufacturing experience strongly desired

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Knowledge of food grade materials for manufacturing components for food processing and/or manufacturing equipment
  • Excellent computer skills in up-to-date software programs for reports and technical documentation
  • Experience in computer-assisted design (CAD) programs for modification of production of blueprints of specialized equipment
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership and management skills
