  1. TITLE: Electrician
  2. QUALIFICATIONS:
    1. Proficiency in installations, alterations, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment.
    2. Ability to plan and implement good, programmed maintenance of equipment and systems.
    3. Current Idaho Electrician's License.
    4. High School Diploma preferred.
    5. Physically capable of performing assigned tasks.
    6. Ability to work with staff, students and the public.
    7. Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds.
    8. Ability to work from ladders and lifts.
    9. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
  3. REPORTS TO: Director of Operations.
  4. JOB GOALS:
    To support the delivery of School District 91's written, taught, tested and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student achievement.
    To help maintain the physical school plant in a condition of operating excellence so that full educational use of it may be made at all times.
  5. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    1. Installs, alters, maintains, and repairs electrical wiring systems, fixtures, motors, generators, transformers, and other electrical equipment.
    2. Repairs and maintains automatic controls, electric switchboards, elevators, voltage regulators, power and lighting panels, air conditioners, electrical appliances, and power tools and equipment.
    3. Responds to all fire alarm system troubles, as well as, schedules and oversees all associated system repairs by certified contractors.
    4. Estimates time and materials needed for assigned tasks. Reads plans, blueprints and sketches when necessary for new construction or remodeling.
    5. Orders electrical parts and supplies.
    6. Completes work order forms and other required paperwork.
    7. Keeps an up-to-date inventory of parts and materials needed. Informs the Maintenance Supervisor of any systems or equipment needing replaced.
    8. Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality.
    9. Maintains journeyman electrician qualifications as required by ID Title 54 Chapter 10 and ID Title 1 Chapter 7
    10. Supervises, as needed, the work of apprentice electricians
    11. Has regular and predictable attendance.
  6. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    1. Performs all other duties as assigned.
  7. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
    This position is scheduled for 40 hours per week, 254 days per year. Monday through Friday is considered to be the normal workweek. Emergency conditions may arise which will require attention at any hour of the day or night. Benefits will be in accordance with approved Board policy. Wages will be in accordance with the Classified Salary Schedule and the needs of the maintenance department:
    • Grade 13 - Idaho Journeyman Electrician's license and less than four years experience as a licensed electrician ($26.38 or $27.67 per hour)
    • Grade 14 - Idaho Journeyman Electrician's license and at least 4 years experience as a licensed electrician ($27.72 or $29.11 per hour)
    • Grade 15 - Idaho Master Electrician's license and eight years experience as a licensed electrician or an Idaho Journeyman Electrician's license and 10 years experience as a licensed electrician (5 years with IFSD #91) ($30.20 or $31.68 per hour)

This is an "at will" position in that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time, or for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law. The "employment at will" policy cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and expressly approved by the Board of Trustees of District 91.
8. EVALUATION:
Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Director of Operations in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on the evaluation of classified personnel.
This position has been given an overall physical classification of heavy duty.
This position requires the ability to work independently and may require working alone in a building after school hours and in isolated areas in a building such as a crawl space or tunnel. This position requires the ability to lift and carry up to fifty pounds, work in hot or cold areas, and climb ladders and stairs. This position includes work that may be performed while sitting, standing, kneeling, squatting, or lying on the ground. Travel from the office to the various schools and vendors is required.
