A ground support equipment (GSE) mechanic identifies problems with and repairs various types of equipment. This role primarily functions in the aviation field, working on gas and diesel-powered engines, hydraulic, electric and air brake systems, but GSE mechanics work on automotive and other equipment as well. GSE mechanics test, inspect, and troubleshoot equipment to keep all equipment working safely and productively. These mechanics are usually required to understand how to drive or operate the equipment they work on as part of their job duties to be able to test it properly.
