Job description

As a Ground Maintenance Technician (GMT) in a motorized role, you will be a part of Delta's Ground Support Equipment team. A GMT (Motorized) specializes as a vehicle/heavy equipment mechanic, repairing vehicles and a variety of airport systems and equipment. This opportunity requires the completion of a two-year degree at a post-secondary technical school or a minimum of three years of demonstrated ability.

Summary of responsibilities:
  • Inspects, services, troubleshoots, repairs, replaces, and overhauls all components like truck chassis, body, and drive-train components on a diverse body of equipment.
  • Electrical and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair, painting, bodywork, and technical work.
  • Completing data entry to record work assignments and connecting with other company personnel as needed.
  • Repair and perform maintenance on mix of motorized equipment as well as bodywork and other technical work.
External Applicants Only - Ground Maintenance Technician (Motorized) hired to work at the LGA airport receive a $5,000 sign-on bonus.  You will receive $2,500 after 90 days of employment and the remaining $2,500 after 180 days of employment. 

The starting rate for this position can increase within 6 months of your start date, based on premiums offered. Examples include, but are not limited to, ASE Certification, CIMM Certification, shift differential, and skill differential

Eligible Delta employees based in New York City (JFK or LGA) can be reimbursed up to $250 per month for specific transportation expenses incurred while traveling to and from work. Employees using public transit, including trains, buses, subways, ferries or van pools to get to and from JFK or LGA may be eligible.
