Job Summary:

As the Ground Hand, you will support construction crews by performing manual labor tasks and assisting Linemen with the preparation, movement, and installation of materials and equipment. You will help maintain safe and efficient job site operations while developing foundational skills for career progression in line construction. Success in this role requires teamwork, reliability, physical capability, attention to safety, and a willingness to learn.

Key Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):

· Assist Linemen with loading, unloading, organizing, and preparing tools, materials, and equipment at job sites.
· Perform manual labor tasks such as digging, tamping, cutting brush, cleaning trucks, and moving materials as directed.
· Support traffic control activities and maintain safe work zone operations.
· Operate or assist with company vehicles and equipment when required and properly authorized.
· Maintain awareness of unsafe conditions and promptly communicate hazards to supervisors or take appropriate corrective action.
· Support physically demanding construction activities in outdoor environments while following all company safety procedures.
· Additional responsibilities within functional scope based on business needs.

Required Qualifications:

Education, Licensing, and Certifications

· High school diploma or equivalent.
· Valid driver's license required.
· OSHA 10 certification required.

Experience

· Entry-level construction or utility field experience preferred.
· Experience working in outdoor, labor-intensive environments is a plus.

Skills and Abilities

· Ability to take direction and follow instructions from supervisors and crew leadership.
· Strong teamwork and communication skills, including the ability to communicate using verbal instructions, radios, and hand signals.
· Ability to identify unsafe conditions and follow established safety procedures.
· Reliable, self-motivated, and committed to maintaining strong attendance and punctuality.
· Ability to perform physically demanding work and safely handle heavy materials and equipment.

Preferred Qualifications:

· Previous utility, telecommunications, or construction field experience.
· Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).

Physical Requirements:

· Ability to lift and carry materials weighing 40–90 lbs.
· Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb ladders, and perform physically demanding activities for extended periods.
· Work performed outdoors in varying and inclement weather conditions and, when required, in confined spaces.
· Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call assignments as business needs require.
· Ability to safely work around heavy equipment, machinery, vehicles, and active construction zones.
· Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety boots, safety glasses, hard hat, high-visibility clothing, and other applicable safety gear.
