Back-of-House (BOH) Team Member

Location: Oakdale, PA (20-25 minutes from downtown)
Employment Type: Part Time (20-40 hrs) and Seasonal
Compensation: Starting at $17.00 base on experience
Department: Kitchen Operations

About the Role

Grist House Craft Brewery is seeking a reliable and adaptable Back-of-House (BOH) Team Member to support our kitchen operations. This position works across all non-management kitchen roles, including line cooking, prep work, expediting, kitchen support, and dishwashing. The ideal candidate is team-oriented, detail-focused, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities

  • Execute food preparation and cooking tasks following established standards.
  • Support expediting during service to ensure accurate and timely order flow.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, equipment, and storage areas.
  • Customer service orientation for interacting with customers when necessary, and understanding their needs and preferences.
  • Assist with restocking, rotation, and basic inventory support.
  • Collaborate effectively with kitchen and front-of-house staff.
  • Flex into any BOH role as needed based on business demands.

Qualifications

  • Prior kitchen or food service experience required
  • Previous experience as a cook or in a similar role within a restaurant or catering environment is preferred

  • Strong communication skills and a commitment to teamwork.
  • Dependability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends with flexibility, holidays as needed.
  • ServSafe certification or equivalent, or obtained upon hiring
  • 21+ preferred, must be at least 18yrs of age.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and move for extended periods, 8 or more hrs.
  • Capable of lifting and carrying up to 65 lbs.
  • Comfortable working in a hot, high-volume kitchen environment.
  • Ability to carry heavy loads such as pots, pans, and trays of food
  • Basic cooking and knife skills to assist in food preparation and presentation
  • General hygiene for a healthy lifestyle
