Position Overview

Special Aerospace Security Services, Inc. (SASSI) is seeking a Database Administrator (PostgreSQL / Greenplum) to support a Department of Defense (DoD) Cyber Security Service Provider (CSSP) program. This role is responsible for the secure, reliable, and efficient operation of enterprise PostgreSQL and Greenplum database environments that support mission-critical cybersecurity and continuous monitoring systems.

The Database Administrator will support high-volume, distributed data environments, ensuring performance optimization, system availability, data integrity, and compliance with federal cybersecurity requirements. This position plays a key role in supporting operational data pipelines, analytics platforms, and security monitoring capabilities within a high-security DoD environment.

This is a hybrid position with primary remote support and periodic on-site requirements in Adelphi, Maryland.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer, maintain, and support PostgreSQL and Greenplum database environments across development, test, and production systems
  • Monitor database performance and implement tuning strategies to optimize query execution, indexing, and system efficiency
  • Manage database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery (DR) processes to ensure data integrity and system availability
  • Support high availability configurations, replication, clustering, and failover mechanisms
  • Implement and enforce database security controls in alignment with DoD and federal cybersecurity requirements
  • Support integration of database systems with cybersecurity tools, SIEM platforms, and continuous monitoring solutions
  • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for database operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting
  • Analyze system logs, alerts, and performance metrics to identify issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions
  • Perform database patching, upgrades, and configuration management activities
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity, DevSecOps, and engineering teams to support mission requirements and system integration
  • Participate in incident response and remediation activities as needed
  • Provide regular status updates, documentation, and reporting on database performance and operational activities

  • Active Top Secret clearance (TS/SCI preferred or ability to obtain)
  • CompTIA Security+ certification (required or ability to obtain within a defined timeframe)
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5โ€“10+ years of database administration experience in enterprise environments
  • Hands-on experience administering PostgreSQL databases
  • Experience supporting or working with distributed database systems (Greenplum or similar platforms preferred)
  • Experience with database performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing strategies
  • Experience with backup, recovery, and high availability solutions
  • Familiarity with Linux-based systems and database hosting environments
  • Experience supporting production systems in a federal or DoD environment
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct experience with Greenplum database environments
  • Experience supporting cybersecurity or continuous monitoring environments (e.g., CSSP, SIEM integration)
  • Familiarity with RMF, NIST 800-53, and DoD security requirements
  • Experience with large-scale data environments, data warehousing, or analytics platforms
  • Experience with automation, scripting, or Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools
  • Experience working in hybrid cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or similar)
