Manassas, VA (Supporting Projects Throughout Arlington County)

Are you an experienced stormwater professional who enjoys leading field operations, solving problems outdoors, and seeing the direct impact of your work? Apex Companies is looking for a Stormwater Maintenance Foreman to oversee stormwater maintenance activities throughout Arlington County while working alongside a collaborative team dedicated to protecting critical infrastructure and the environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with hands-on stormwater or construction experience who wants to take the next step in their career. You'll have the autonomy to manage your daily schedule, oversee subcontractors, work on innovative green infrastructure systems, and play a key role in maintaining some of the region's most important stormwater assets.

What You'll Do

As the Stormwater Maintenance Foreman, you'll manage day-to-day field operations across approximately 50-75 sites containing more than 150 stormwater assets. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead and coordinate routine stormwater maintenance activities throughout Arlington County.
  • Oversee subcontractors performing maintenance and repair work.
  • Develop daily and weekly work schedules while coordinating access with facility staff.
  • Perform inspections of stormwater management facilities and green infrastructure systems.
  • Document field activities through photographs and detailed reports.
  • Oversee routine bioretention and Low Impact Development (LID) maintenance.
  • Ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project requirements.
  • Assist with stormwater sampling and support additional environmental response and field projects as needed.
  • Operate as the field lead, ensuring quality work and successful project execution.

What We're Looking For:

  • 5+ years of stormwater, environmental field, heavy civil, construction, or related experience.
  • Experience maintaining or inspecting stormwater management facilities or green infrastructure systems.
  • Current VDEQ Stormwater Inspector Certification (required).
  • Experience coordinating field crews or subcontractors.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to prepare field documentation and reports.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
  • A bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Botany, or a related field is welcomed but not required. Equivalent hands-on experience is highly valued.

Work Environment

  • Based out of our Manassas, VA office with projects located throughout Arlington County.
  • Approximately 80% field work with the flexibility to complete reporting from home or the office.
  • Standard work schedule of 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
