Job description

Full-Time | Brooklyn, NY


Massa Multimedia Architecture is seeking a qualified Technical Field Representative with experience in Construction Administration (CA) and Construction Management (CM) to serve as a full-time, on-site representative for the new Harbor Middle School (K680) in Brooklyn, New York.


This high-profile project is being managed by the New York City School Construction Authority (NYC SCA) and involves the construction of new 95,000 sf middle school located in the Red Hook neighborhood of Brooklyn. Work to be performed during typical contractor’s daytime hours.  


The project is scheduled to begin in November 2026 and is anticipated to continue for a minimum of two and a half years. Selected candidates are subject to a two-step review: initial interview and evaluation with MMA, followed by required review and approval by the NYC School Construction Authority (SCA) prior to final placement on the project.

 

The school building includes complex design elements, including:

  • Custom architectural precast concrete panel exterior wall construction
  • Steel framed structure
  • Extensive Green Roof System on the majority of roof surfaces
  • Interior swimming pool
  • Site playground and landscaping
  • Extensive special education (D75) wing
  • Building is situated within a flood zone
  • Coordination with completed Early Demolition & Site Remediation Contracts
  • Site is enrolled in Brownfield Cleanup Program


Applicants should possess:

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management (Professional Architect (RA) or Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred)
  • Minimum 7 years of relevant Construction Administration and/or Construction Management experience
  • Strong understanding of construction documents, building systems, and quality assurance practices
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with the design team, contractor, and owner


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform on-site observations to monitor construction progress and verify compliance with the contract documents
  • Monitor the contractor's construction schedule and overall project progress
  • Assist the design team with Requests for Information (RFIs) and review of contractor submittals
  • Review contractor change order proposals
  • Attend project meetings and prepare meeting minutes
  • Observe required testing and inspections performed by inspectors
  • Maintain detailed field logs and prepare regular field observation reports
  • Assist with the startup and commissioning of major building systems
  • Participate in preconstruction meetings for various trades
  • Coordinate daily with the NYC School Construction Authority's on-site construction management staff
  • Assist in obtaining close-out documentation, including operation manuals, warranties, and record documents
  • Participate in final inspections and verify completion of work in accordance with contract requirements
