Job description

Campus Operations seeks a Turf & Grass Technician I to perform a variety of landscaping functions to maintain and improve our Clayton Campus grounds, which includes the Home Office, Clayton Road, The Lodge, Clayton Bradley Academy, and The Cottage. The Turf & Grass Technician I will ensure the care of our lawn is to the highest standards while maintaining the highest degree of safety, productivity, and attention to detail as it relates to Clayton properties.

This is a part-time (20-25 hours per week) position. Hours can be worked M-F between 7am-5pm.

Turf & Grass Technician I Duties

  • Performs maintenance of the campus lawns including, trimming, pruning, edging, mowing, weeding, etc.

  • Under direction, measures, mixes, and applies fertilizer, pesticides, insecticides, and fungicides

  • Operates mowers, vehicles, and all equipment associated with grounds and landscaping activities.

  • Performs routine maintenance of all associated groundskeeping equipment.

  • Installs mulch in all ornamental beds throughout the campus as needed.

  • Seasonal leaf and snow removal of all parking lots.

  • Annual preventive maintenance of parking lots, painted lines, and signage.

  • Perform specialized seasonal maintenance and care of turf & grass

  • Assists Campus Operations services team with outdoor event set ups.

  • Designated as essential personnel and required to report to work to ensure operation of essential campus function during emergency situations when operations have been suspended or delayed.

Turf & Grass Technician I Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of or ability to learn lawn maintenance.

  • Basic knowledge in or ability to learn application of fertilizers, insecticides and fungicides.

  • Basic knowledge of or ability to learn operation of all mowers and machinery associated with groundskeeping.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

Education: High School Diploma / GED

Years of Related Experience: 0-2 years' experience

Licenses/Certifications Driver's Licenses
