Job description

6-Week Micro-Internship | 20 Hours/Week | Flexible Schedule

About the Internship

CMMShere is seeking a talented UI/UX & Product Design Intern to help evaluate and redesign the user experience of a mobile application for our EV charging solutions.

The application already has an established product structure, user experience, design system, and working prototype. Your role will be to critically evaluate the existing design and elevate its visual experience, helping us create a cleaner, more intuitive, modern, and internationally competitive mobile product.

We're looking for someone with a strong eye for mobile UI design, visual hierarchy, simplicity, usability, and attention to detail.

This is a design-focused internship. No coding or software development is required.

Responsibilities
  • Review and evaluate the existing mobile app UI/UX.
  • Research and benchmark leading EV, automotive, mobility, and consumer technology apps.
  • Identify opportunities to improve usability, visual hierarchy, spacing, typography, color, consistency, and overall visual quality.
  • Develop and present a refined visual direction for the application.
  • Redesign key screens and user journeys in Figma.
  • Refine UI components and contribute to the evolution of the existing design system.
  • Create polished, high-fidelity designs and an interactive prototype.
  • Present your design decisions and incorporate feedback from the Atlantic Power team.
  • Collaborate remotely with our engineering and development teams.
  • Prepare organized design files for developer handoff.

You'll have significant creative freedom to challenge the existing design and propose better solutions while working within the requirements of a real product.

Who We're Looking For

We care more about your portfolio and design thinking than your exact academic status.

You may be a current junior or senior, recent graduate, or early-career designer studying or trained in UI/UX Design, Product Design, Interaction Design, Graphic/Digital Design, HCI, or a related field.

We're looking for:

  • A strong digital design portfolio
  • Proficiency in Figma
  • Understanding of typography, spacing, color, hierarchy, and interface design
  • Ability to create clean, modern, and intuitive mobile experiences
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to explain and defend design decisions
  • Ability to work independently in a flexible remote environment
  • Located in the United States
  • Professional proficiency in English

Mobile app design, design-system experience, interactive prototyping, spanish lnaguage knowledge and an interest in EVs or clean-energy technology are all considered a plus.

No coding experience is required.

Internship Details

Duration: 6 weeks

Commitment: 20 hours per week

Location: Remote โ€“ United States or Canada

Schedule: Flexible, with periodic virtual meetings and design reviews

Start: Early September 2026

Compensation: Project stipend provided

Why Join the Project?

This is an opportunity to work on a real EV charging mobile product alongside an engineering and development team.

Rather than starting from a blank canvas, you'll receive an existing product foundation and be challenged to evaluate it, improve it, and help shape its final visual experience.

Your work will have a clear path toward real-world implementation, making this an excellent portfolio opportunity for a designer interested in mobile product design, EVs, mobility, energy, or technology.

How to Apply

Please submit:

  • Your resume
  • A link to your design portfolio
  • If available, examples of mobile app or digital product design work
  • Optional: Tell us about one mobile app you think has exceptional UI/UX and briefly explain why.
