Eaton's Power Components Division (PCD) is currently seeking a Senior Connected Integration Engineer to join the team. This role requires up to 20% travel and can be remote within the United States or hybrid based at our facility in Moon Township, PA.
Who we are: Eaton's PCD group is a 3,300 person, $760M organization, producing various circuit breakers, vacuum interrupters, meters and relays as part of the larger (PCS) Protection, Control and Solutions.
The expected annual salary range for this role is $97000 - $143000 a year.
Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
What you'll do:
This position provides pre and post sales technical support for power and energy meters, protective relays, power distribution monitoring and control software, and related communication products. The role serves as a technical resource for customers and Electrical Group personnel by resolving moderately to highly complex technical issues in accordance with established procedures and timelines. The position supports end users and field engineers with product installation, device configuration, and data acquisition requirements, ensuring accurate and timely resolution. Responsibilities include delivering technical explanations, product demonstrations, and training to customers as well as supporting field engineering and marketing functions. The role also collaborates with in house engineering and marketing teams by providing technical feedback and recommendations that contribute to product enhancements and modifications of existing devices.
Essential Functions:
  • Field Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution: Troubleshoot and resolve communication related technical issues in the field involving Eaton's connected and communicating products, including meters, gateways, and associated systems. Diagnose root causes communication failures, distinguishing between Eaton product behavior and external factors such as improper installation practices, cabling, or third-party system configuration. Verify correct system operation by confirming accurate population of registers and data prior to handoff to third party Building Management or Information Systems (BMS/BIS). Travel to customer sites, as needed, to support field troubleshooting efforts, resolve complex issues, and build customer confidence in Eaton solutions. Serve as a Tier 3 technical expert for Eaton meters, gateways, and connected products, applying best practices and learned customer use cases to enhance customer value.

  • Systems Integration: Provide technical guidance to third party software vendors and programmers to facilitate timely issue resolution and successful system integration. Create and support Power Distribution Monitoring and Control (PDMC) graphics, including one line diagrams, front views, and associated communication elements. Identify, document, and communicate PDMC software defects or limitations to internal engineering teams to support corrective action and continuous improvement.

  • Technical Expertise: Deliver technical training to OEM customers and other stakeholders on Eaton products, PDMC graphics creation, and communication best practices, exercising patience and adaptability to varied skill levels.

  • Project Coordination: Lead coordination of communication drawings, ensuring required inputs are collected, transferred to global resources (e.g., Pune), reviewed for accuracy, revised as needed, and delivered to support sales, bidding, installation, and as built documentation. Track communication drawing schedules and milestones, identify process improvement opportunities, and contribute to reducing overall turnaround time.

  • Continuous Improvement: Capture and share Voice of the Customer insights from customer interactions to support product improvements, identify emerging market needs, and inform internal stakeholders.

Qualifications:
What will make you successful?
An ideal candidate brings a solid foundation in electrical power distribution systems and power quality, complemented by working knowledge of operating systems, databases, industrial communication protocols (such as Modbus and BACnet), and basic networking principles. You demonstrate strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with proven experience diagnosing and resolving issues across integrated hardware and software systems, including replicating and testing customer-reported problems. You excel in customer service and collaboration, effectively partnering with cross-functional engineering teams to keep clear communication on technical status, issues, and resolutions. You are highly skilled at translating complex technical concepts into clear, accessible explanations and can adapt your communication style to meet the needs of both technical and non-technical stakeholders. You exhibit strong organizational and time management capabilities, ensuring accurate documentation, efficient prioritization, and consistent delivery of high-quality technical support. We are looking for candidates who are diverse in their backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences, and who can bring fresh and innovative ideas to our team.
Required (Basic) Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, EET, Software Engineering or related discipline from an accredited institution
  • Minimum 4 years experience in power systems or electronics
