Job description

About Swoop:
Swoop Technologies has a mission to organize and make accessible the world's military and critical infrastructure. We are building a distributed operating system, SwoopOS, that decomposes the world's equipment into a distributed robotic embodiment upon which a new generation of distributed systems, autonomous systems, and agentic AI can be built and deployed using our SDK, Valhalla, and operated via our browser, Surf. Imagine the world's equipment - consisting of the electrical grid, communications architectures, manufacturing facilities, and militaries as a trapped supply of inputs possessing the potential to ensure Western military advantage, sovereign control of economically competitive manufacturing capacity, or the creation of a grid that fosters energy dominance. Swoop is liberating these trapped assets, allowing them to contribute to the world's future as a series of building blocks to be combined at the speed of software, limited by only the hard constraints of physics and the soft constraints of safety. That is what Swoop is building. Not in the data center or cloud or edge on-premise computing node. In the physical world. This is a hybrid position that requires someone based in Minneapolis/St. Paul who can work in-office 3+ days per week.
Your Impact:
You're a product-minded storyteller with a passion for making complex technical concepts feel intuitive and real. At Swoop, we believe that our technology deserves exceptional design. In this role, you'll be expected to move fast, seeing your designs go from prototype to presentation in days, not months. You will build the narrative of how our technology is presented to customers, external audiences, and critical decision makers.
What You'll Do:
  • Web Design & Maintenance: Lead the visual evolution of our website, ensuring a fast, seamless, and immersive user experience, while managing regular updates and layout improvements.
  • Motion Graphics: Use high-end 3D renders, After Effects, motion graphics, and UI animations to help shape the narrative of complex technical systems. Our customers must be able to see the future and impact of our technology.
  • Presentation Design: Partner with leadership, engineering, and business development to transform complex ideas into stunning, persuasive decks, presentations, and training materials.
  • Visual Asset Creation: Build custom iconography, 2D/3D content, and assets that set us apart.
  • Brand: Design is the brand. You'll ideate and create how external audiences understand who we are and the mission we stand for. From creating aesthetic marketing materials to supporting unique ways of attracting talent, you'll define approaches to bringing Swoop to market.

You Should Have:
  • Expert-level proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects) and Figma.
  • Familiarity with 3D software to support the creation of short-form animation of a product or system effect in action.
  • Experience with CMS platforms (like WordPress, Webflow, and Framer) and a solid understanding of responsive design.
  • Experience creating app-like experiences within a presentation using transitions, embedded video, and custom iconography.
  • A deep understanding of typography and the creation of technical schematics, and illustrations.
  • Discipline to ensure branding is consistent throughout the entirety of design.
  • You are self-directed, thrive in fast-paced environments, and are comfortable shifting from a 3D render to fixing branding on a deck within the hour.

Bonus if you have:
  • Experience working in the defense industry, or highly complex technical products and solutions

Swoop Technologies is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, age, national origin, disability, protected veteran status, gender identity or any other factor protected by applicable federal, state, or local laws.
