Position Summary
Washington University in St. Louis is seeking a Motion Graphics Art Director in St. Louis, Missouri.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and produce audience and channel-appropriate motion graphics, including directing pre-production efforts to achieve key communication objectives.
  • Direct art motion graphics projects to ensure brand consistency, including being on set during video productions and directing talent as needed
  • Perform video editing in short and long formats.
  • Lead efforts to identify, plan, design, and create visually compelling projects and experiences (including graphics packages and tool kits, GIFs, animated stickers for social media and animations, interactive design elements, digital media videos and features, long form video programs, marketing and promotional video campaigns, live event and experiential products) with members of the University Marketing & Communications team, campus partners, and vendors.
  • Collaborate with Creative Services and direct the evolution of artwork and design utilized in select projects.
  • Collaborate on strategic use of digital assets.
  • Develop, maintain, and ensure editorial quality.
  • Identify topics and events for motion graphics projects.
  • Direct content, design, and technology of digital motion graphics presentations.
  • Lead and mentor motion graphics collaborative group of content creators to support professional development.
  • Ensure effective and timely delivery of high-quality motion graphics services.
  • Research and evaluate new multimedia techniques and tools.
  • Test, evaluate, report on, and recommend new software and technologies.
  • Propose, recommend, and use research and trends to inform creative strategies.
  • Contribute to maintaining the Digital Asset Management systems.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position requires Bachelor's degree in Visual Arts or closely related field and 8 years of experience as a Graphic Arts Director, Video Producer/Editor, Motion Graphic Designer, or related occupation to include 8 years of the following experience: directing and producing video and multimedia production including directing audio and digital camera operation; typography and design layout; providing creative direction and vision and quality edited work, applying best practices for video on the web/SEO, broadcast and social media platforms; mentoring and collaborating with creative teams; utilizing Adobe Creative Suite design and video editing software; creating Premier Pro templates using AE; and 5 years of the following experience: directing set design and management; directing on-site shoots and serving as field producer to independently conduct interviews; producing content created for social media and other digital channels; and providing strategic and creative leadership for motion graphics projects. Film directing certification is also required.
