About The Opportunity

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for assisting in the operation of a flexographic folder-gluer to produce quality product safely and efficiently. The Langston Assistant is responsible for providing assistance to the operator with setting up, running, inspecting and maintaining the machine. The person in this position is expected to learn the next highest job in the line of progression and step-up as needed.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist operator with set up, operation, and monitoring machine to produce corrugated products and recording operational data.
  • Review work orders or production schedules to determine specifications, such as materials to be used, locations of cutting lines, scores and printing; or dimensions and tolerances.
  • Select and install machine components such as plates and die boards, using hand tools.
  • Adjust guide assemblies, forming bars, and folding mechanisms according to specifications, using hand tools.
  • Start machine to verify setups and make any necessary adjustments. Start machines and move controls to regulate tension on pressure rolls, to synchronize speed of machine components, and adjust glue or ink as needed.
  • Examine completed work to detect defects and verify conformance to specifications, using measuring devices such as rulers, micrometers, or scales, and adjust machinery as necessary to correct production problems.
  • Remove defective or substandard materials from machines and readjust machine components so that products meet standards. Follow designated quality escalation process.
  • Stack and sort finished material for packaging, further processing, or shipping, according to specifications.
  • Utilize computer to input production data as required.
  • Maintain production records, such as quantities, downtime and production issues.
  • Move stock or scrap to and from machines manually, or by using carts, hand trucks, or lift trucks.
  • Clean and perform preventative maintenance on machine as required.
