Job description

About the Job
We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Graphic Designer to join our team! The role of Graphic Designer at MCR primarily entails receiving clients’ requests, and then fulfilling those requests. These requests are typically either to create a new design from scratch, or to make edits to an existing design, all while adhering to our outlined best practices for ensuring print quality.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop creative, high-quality graphics for print and direct mail marketing materials, including brochures, postcards, flyers, catalogs, newsletters, and more.
  • Prepare and format design files for print production, ensuring they meet printing specifications, color accuracy, and bleed requirements.
  • Work in a team-based environment with Project Managers, Programmers, Printer Operators, and other Graphic Designers in order to create impactful marketing materials that meet our clients’ needs. Converse with clients via Zoom, phone calls, and email in order to assess their needs, and help guide them through the design process.
  • Manage multiple design projects, ensuring timely completion within deadlines, while maintaining attention to detail and quality.
  • Communicate well in writing—most project details are conveyed via email. It is important that MCR’s Graphic Designers are able to communicate with their team to be able to ask or answer questions in a quick, professional fashion.

Qualifications:
  • Experience with the design tools of Adobe CC—Photoshop, Illustrator, and most importantly, InDesign. Deeper knowledge of Adobe Acrobat and the .PDF file format is a plus.
  • Demonstrable knowledge and skill in the following areas: layout, typography, illustration, color theory, branding/identity, data visualization, and print production.
  • Must understand appropriate use of design assets—vector vs raster images and their uses, what image formats are/are not appropriate for print, minimum resolution requirements for various projects, etc.
  • Must understand basics of color management—spot vs process color, what color spaces are intended for print vs screen, and managing color palettes to ensure print quality.
  • Strong attention to detail is a must. Designing within the constraints of a client’s branding guidelines is one of the most common parts of the job.

Qualifications (cont’d):
  • Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing. This is a client-facing position, so strong interpersonal skills go a long way toward making the job easier.
  • Experience in any of the following areas is beneficial, but is not required:
    • Non-Adobe design software (e.g. Canva or Publisher).
    • Industrial printer operation.
    • Marketing/brand management.
    • AI-based imaging tools (the benefits and the drawbacks).
    • Front-end web design (primarily HTML, CSS).

Benefits:
  • Competitive pay.
  • 401(k) 401(k) matching.
  • Dental, vision, and health insurance.
  • Paid time off.
  • Paid major holidays off.

Schedule:
  • The graphic design team works primarily in-office.
  • Monday through Friday  8 A.M. – 5 P.M. (hour for lunch).
  • Infrequently, extended hours may be required to meet project deadlines.

Marketing Communication resource is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion. We encourage all qualified individuals to apply.
