Graphic Hourly information

What is a graphic hourly?

Graphic hourly jobs refer to positions in the graphic design field where employees are paid by the hour rather than receiving a fixed salary. These jobs may include tasks such as creating logos, designing marketing materials, editing images, and working on digital content. Hourly graphic designers often work as freelancers or on a contract basis, allowing flexibility in terms of projects and scheduling. Payment is typically based on the number of hours worked, with rates varying depending on experience, skill level, and project complexity.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a graphic designer?

To thrive as a Graphic Designer, you need strong visual design skills, creativity, and proficiency in design principles, typically supported by a degree or certification in graphic design or a related field. Familiarity with industry-standard software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and knowledge of digital asset management systems are essential. Attention to detail, effective communication, and the ability to take feedback make someone stand out in this position. These skills ensure the creation of visually compelling, on-brand materials that meet client or business objectives and adapt to evolving design trends.

What are some common challenges faced by graphic designers working on an hourly basis, and how can they overcome them?

Graphic designers working hourly often face challenges such as managing multiple client deadlines, accurately tracking billable hours, and handling scope changes mid-project. To overcome these issues, it's important to establish clear project expectations, use time-tracking tools, and communicate proactively with clients about timelines and revisions. Additionally, setting boundaries and having a well-defined contract can help ensure smooth workflow and fair compensation.

You'll also team up with other members of the  creative group when a project calls for it, supporting web content, digital ad  campaigns, and video projects with the graphics and visual assets they need.  Because you're designing across a range of distinct brands, no two weeks look  the same: you'll move between different visual identities and project types  while staying true to each brand's established guidelines. Your creativity,  design skills, and eye for detail will help strengthen how our brands show up  in the marketplace.

Responsibilities

• Designs, revises, and prepares assigned  deliverables, including digital ads, print collateral, social graphics, and  sales and marketing materials, from established project briefs and creative  direction through final approval.

• Manages assigned design projects through  completion, coordinating priorities, timelines, feedback, and approvals with  the Director of Marketing, Brand Managers, and Marketing Operations.

• Collaborates with Brand Managers, Marketing  Ops, and requesting business units to understand project goals, timelines,  audience needs, and brand requirements.

• Partners with other creative team members,  supplying graphics, digital ad assets, and video-related visuals, when  projects call for a broader creative effort.

• Manages your assigned projects in Monday.com,  hitting board deadlines for both business-unit requests and internally-driven,  proactive marketing initiatives.

• Applies and upholds each brand's established  style guide and visual standards as you move across a varied portfolio of  brands and business units.

• Contributes design ideas and creative  recommendations to proactive marketing efforts and team-led campaigns within  established brand and campaign direction.

• Researches and applies current design trends,  tools, and techniques to keep visuals fresh and on-trend.

• Manages multiple concurrent assignments and  deadlines, incorporating feedback efficiently and delivering high-quality work  within established timelines.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional graphic design  experience in a relevant role. No specific degree is required—we value  demonstrated skills and the quality of your portfolio.

• A portfolio available for digital viewing  (online portfolio, PDF, or website) demonstrating strong design execution and  range across print and digital deliverables.

• Proficient in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator,  Photoshop, and/or other common design applications.

• Ability to translate established creative  direction, project goals, and brand standards into polished visual solutions,  with strong attention to detail.

• Comfortable managing assigned projects and  deadlines while collaborating with the marketing team for direction, feedback,  and approval.

• Solid understanding of many media platforms and  digital marketing principles.

• Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and  professional demeanor.

• Excellent communication skills and ability to  collaborate effectively across teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Formal training or a degree in Graphic Design,  Marketing or Advertising.

• Experience designing across multiple distinct  brands or business units at once, and genuine enthusiasm for that variety.

• Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality  designs for both digital and print media with minimal revision.

• Experience collaborating with cross-functional  and creative teams, including web, digital advertising, or video production.

• Familiarity with Monday.com or similar  project-management platforms.

• Strong organizational skills and the ability to  manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.

• Experience working with external vendors, such  as printer service providers or promotional product suppliers, is a plus.

• A professional portfolio showcasing a variety  of design work, including marketing collateral, digital assets, and branding  projects.
