What does a graphic designer do at a charity?

A Graphic Designer at a charity creates visual content to support the organization's mission and campaigns. This includes designing promotional materials such as brochures, social media graphics, event banners, and reports that help raise awareness and funds. They work closely with other team members to ensure that all designs align with the charity's brand and values. Their work is crucial in communicating the charity's message effectively to the public and potential donors.

How does a graphic designer at a charity typically collaborate with other departments to create impactful campaigns?

As a Graphic Designer at a charity, you’ll regularly work with fundraising, marketing, and program teams to translate campaign objectives into compelling visuals. Collaboration often involves participating in brainstorming sessions, receiving feedback from non-design colleagues, and iterating designs to ensure messages resonate with target audiences. The work environment is usually fast-paced and mission-driven, requiring adaptability and strong communication skills to balance creative vision with organizational goals. This cross-functional teamwork not only enhances campaign effectiveness but also provides opportunities to learn about different aspects of nonprofit operations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a graphic designer in a charity, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Graphic Designer in a charity, you need a solid background in visual communication, proficiency in design principles, and typically a degree or certification in graphic design. Familiarity with tools like Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and knowledge of digital and print production are essential. Creativity, collaboration, and strong communication skills help you convey impactful messages and work effectively with diverse teams. These skills ensure that the charity's mission and campaigns are visually compelling, resonate with audiences, and drive engagement and support.

Job description

Welcome to Fi.

We’re a passionate team from Square, Google, Oura, Peloton, Uber, and more working to transform the human-pet relationship. Our mission? Develop cutting-edge technology to revolutionize what it means to be a pet parent. The pet industry remains firmly stuck in the past and we are here to change that. Fi is leveraging our team's talent and expertise to improve the lives of millions of pets in the U.S. Real-time location tracking, activity, sleep and behavior monitoring – and that's just the beginning.

The most exciting aspect of our work? Bridging the communication gap between pets and humans. Imagine a world where everyone knows how their pet feels in real time and how to keep their best friend in good shape. That's the future we're building at Fi.

If you're someone who thrives in innovative, collaborative work environments and feels strongly about helping pets live longer, better lives, Fi could be the perfect fit. Join us in our pursuit of the “impossible,” or as we call it here “let me find a way,” to redefine the future of pet ownership together.

Fi is looking for a Digital & Performance Designer!

We're looking for someone to own the look, feel, and performance of our paid and organic social assets and email creative. You'll turn campaign briefs into scroll-stopping, on-brand static content across Meta and beyond, plus the visuals behind our email marketing program. This is a hands-on, high-output role for someone who knows great design has to convert, not just look good, and has the performance data to back it up.
What You'll Do:
  • Design static creative for paid social campaigns (primarily Meta/Instagram, with potential expansion to TikTok, Pinterest, and other platforms), optimized to drive clicks, sales, and engagement
  • Partner on the visual output for organic social channels, keeping content fresh, on-brand, and platform-native
  • Design email marketing assets, campaign graphics, banners, product features, and promotional layouts, in collaboration with lifecycle/email marketing
  • Partner closely with brand and growth teams to translate campaign goals, briefs, and performance data into new creative concepts and iterations
  • Build and maintain a steady cadence of A/B creative variants (copy, layout, color, format) to support ongoing testing and optimization
  • Maintain brand consistency across all social and email touchpoints while adapting creative to platform-specific best practices and specs
  • Stay current on social and paid media creative trends, platform format changes, and competitor creative strategies
  • Manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced, iterative marketing environment
  • Handle light video editing: trimming, captions, simple animations, and repurposing existing footage to supplement static-first output
What You'll Bring:
  • 3+ years of experience in digital design, with a portfolio showing paid and/or organic social creative and email design
  • Proven experience designing performance-driven creative for Meta Ads (Facebook/Instagram), you know what stops the scroll and what drives action
  • Strong static design skills: layout, typography, color, and composition for social and email formats
  • Comfort working with performance data and creative testing frameworks; you can speak to what worked and why
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator) and/or Figma; Canva familiarity a plus
  • Light video editing/motion skills (Premiere Pro, After Effects, CapCut), not required to be an expert, but comfortable putting together simple edits
  • Strong understanding of platform-specific creative specs and best practices (Meta, Instagram, TikTok, email)
  • Excellent time management and the ability to juggle multiple briefs and deadlines at once
  • A collaborative mindset, comfortable taking feedback from marketing, brand, and leadership stakeholders and iterating quickly
  • Experience designing for a DTC or subscription/membership brand
  • Comfortable using AI to generate and edit content
  • Familiarity with pet, tech hardware, or wearables categories
  • Basic motion graphics or animation skills
  • Experience with email platforms (Klaviyo, Braze, Iterable) and/or Meta Ads Manager
Why You'll Love Us:
  • Time to Recharge: Enjoy flexible PTO to take the breaks you need.
  • Top-Notch Health Coverage: We’ve got your back (and teeth and eyes) with full medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Wellness Perks: Free access to One Medical, Kindbody, and Talkspace to keep you feeling your best.
  • Dog-Friendly Office: Bring your pup to work — they’re part of the team, too.
  • Give Back to the Pups: Make tails wag with a $500 annual donation to a dog charity of your choice through our BarkBack Program.
  • Free Fi Membership: Your furry best friend(s) get all the benefits of a Fi collar, on us!
  • Love for Friends + Family: Share the Fi magic with loved ones through our gifting program.
The anticipated base salary range for this position is $85,000–$120,000. Actual compensation will vary based on multiple factors, including skills, experience, market conditions, and role scope, which may evolve during the hiring process. As a fast-growing Series B startup, Fi evaluates compensation opportunistically to align with the right candidate. This role is also eligible for equity compensation.
