Job description

Overview

The Graphic Design Specialist is an integral part of the Emergent Holdings communications team and will manage projects from ideation and design to production with adherence to the Emergent Holdings brand standards and the ability to drive a consistent visual identity.

Based in the Detroit or Grand Rapids areas, this person will lead design projects for the division, including brand development, corporate identity, corporate presentations, infographics, print and digital advertising, website design, and trade show graphics – all aligned to support strategic, measurable goals. Working knowledge of SharePoint sites, websites, HTML and WordPress required.

The Graphic Design Specialist must have strong multimedia design skills, be highly motivated, organized and detail-oriented with the ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities. This person must also be able to collaborate and thrive in a small team, work under tight timelines with changing priorities, interact at all levels of the organization and demonstrate a high degree of creativity and entrepreneurial spirit.
PAY RANGE: Actual compensation decision relies on the consideration of internal equity, candidate's skills and professional experience, geographic location, market, and other potential factors. It is not standard practice for an offer to be at or near the top of the range, and therefore a reasonable estimate for this role is between $64,900 and $108,700.

Responsibilities

  • Use Adobe Creative Suite, create and edit promotional materials and custom-built graphics from concept though final approval.
  • Ensure all materials comply with corporate branding standards.
  • Lead creative brainstorming and project handover sessions to ensure full understanding of project objectives, timelines and approval team.
  • Respectfully collaborate with team members, colleagues and executives.
  • Approach new projects from a strategic mindset, keeping corporate goals in mind.
  • Establish goals and track metrics where available to demonstrate individual and departmental successes.
  • Establish and utilize marketing industry-accepted metrics to track performance. Generate effective reporting mechanisms.
  • Manage vendor relations and maintain fiscal responsibility.
  • Establish and maintain file naming, sharing and storage protocols.
  • Establish audit processes to enhance quality control.
  • Stay informed on industry trends and best practices and implement them into daily work as appropriate.
  • Constantly adapt to latest AI tools available to our enterprise related to graphic design and assist enterprise in how to best use those tools while maintaining our brand standards.

RequirementsEDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in web or graphic design, computer science, marketing, communications or related field required.
  • Combinations of relevant education, certifications, and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Progress toward an advanced degree or certification is highly preferred and encouraged.

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum five years’ experience in a design-focused environment which provides the necessary skill, knowledge and abilities required.
  • Agency and corporate design experience preferred.
  • Web and video production/editing experience preferred.


SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Superior knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (especially Illustrator and In-Design) and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong creative, verbal and written communication, problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Exceptional project and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of product promotion and branding.
  • Ability to be highly creative, self-motivated and apply concept to practice.
  • Ability to exchange information clearly and concisely, articulate ideas and design recommendations, report facts and respond to questions as appropriate.
  • Ability to interact with others to build consensus and get decisions implemented.
  • Ability to work independently and make competent, independent decisions.
  • Ability to perform assignments at locations outside the office.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong knowledge of color spectrums (CMYK vs. RGB) and print processes (digital vs. offset).
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and integration (X, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.).
  • Experience working within healthcare, insurance, or regulated industries.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted creative workflows and prompt engineering for visual generation platforms.
