JOB SUMMARY
The Seasonal Bulk Scale House Clerk reports to the Cellar Logistics Manager and is a temporary position for the grape harvest season. The Seasonal Bulk Scale House Clerk is responsible for weighing, recording, and tracking all inbound and outbound bulk grape, wine, juice or other shipments at the winery. This role ensures compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements while maintaining detailed and organized documentation. The clerk serves as a key point of communication between production, logistics, and shipping teams, helping to coordinate the efficient flow of materials and maintain inventory accuracy. Attention to detail, strong data entry skills, and commitment to safety and compliance are essential in this role.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Operate the truck scale system to weigh incoming and outgoing bulk grapes, wine, juice, and related materials.
  • Accurately record weight data and complete all required documentation for grape receipts, wine shipments, including delivery tags, bill of lading, weigh tickets, and compliance records.
  • Verify shipment details (e.g., product type, volume, grower, property blocks, transport company) and ensure alignment with production and shipping schedules.
  • Communicate effectively with truck drivers, cellar personnel, winemakers, lab personnel, logistics coordinators, and shipping/receiving teams to coordinate load timing and resolve discrepancies.
  • Assist in auditing and reconciling inventory records related to bulk receipts and shipments.
  • Report equipment issues or irregularities to appropriate departments promptly.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment around the scale house area. Lifting heavy lug bins or buckets.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be 18 or older at the time of hire.
  • No experience in a production or manufacturing environment required.
  • Must have the ability to read, write, speak, and understand instructions in English.
  • Ability to multitask, work independently and with a team in a fast-paced, high volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.
  • Must be flexible with availability, with primary working hours being graveyard appx. 12am - 10am, plus overtime. Times will shift to accommodate grape harvesting.
  • Operation of basic hand tools.
  • Must have an excellent safety, work performance and attendance record.
  • Prioritize while able to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Demonstrated reliability and punctuality, work effectively in team/crew environment, adherence to all safety regulations and operating procedures.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
  • Working environment is both indoors and outdoors, with exposure to related equipment and noise levels.
  • Ability to work outside and exposure to dry, wet, or humid conditions.
  • Exposed to inclement seasonal weather, summer heat, cold weather, rain.
  • Ability to perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, and twisting in an outdoor environment.
  • Must be able to repeatedly lift and carry weights up to 50 pounds at varying frequencies with equipment.

COMPENSATION
  • Hourly Pay Range Posted: $17.50 - 18.50/hr.
  • Actual compensation will be based on factors such as experience, skills, knowledge and abilities, education, and other position-related factors.
