Job description

Function: The Grantwriter & Donor Relations Coordinator is responsible for effectively conveying the agency's mission to donors and funders and successfully securing new and renewing funding. The Grantwriter & Donor Relations Coordinator should be able to set and meet deadlines accurately. Having the ability to collaborate with program staff, leadership staff, board members, and other key volunteers is critical. We value individual initiative, as well as the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week
Reports to: Grants Manager

Essential Functions

  • Work closely with the Grants Manager to:
    • identify and cultivate foundations aligned with KCSARC's programs and projects and develop proposal strategies;
    • conduct ongoing foundation research;
    • edit, write, and submit letters of intent, proposals, and thank you letters;
    • prepare and submit reports;
    • and ensure all internal tracking is current.
  • Work closely with the Grants Manager to:
    • maintain a master calendar of all grant activity, including planned, submitted, awarded, declined, and abandoned proposals and reporting requests;
    • create and maintain current records for all grants and reports.
  • Work closely with the Individual Giving Manager to:
    • manage sustained membership/recurring giving program;
    • manage administrative tasks and outreach related to matching employer giving opportunities available to certain individual donors.
  • Develop a deep understanding of how all the existing and potential funding and programmatic opportunities align to track when grants are expiring and plan for replacement funds.
  • Serve as point of contact and liaison for funder and donor relationships as appropriate.

Agency and Team Participation

  • Acquire and actively employ sound knowledge and understanding of the organization, its work, and its competitive and collaborative environment.
  • Actively participate in the External Relations team's planning and collaboration tools and processes.
  • Ability to link your work with the overall strategy and goals of the team and KCSARC's mission and values.

Technical Functions

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word and Excel, and familiarity with grant management and database software.
