BACKGROUND:The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world's worst humanitarian crises and helps people to survive and rebuild their lives. At work in over 40 countries and 28 UScities to restore safety, dignity, and hope, the IRC leads the way from harm to home. Domestically, our 28 offices across the USensure new arrivals have food, shelter, and clothing and work with refugees to help them gain self-sufficiency.
SCOPE OF INTERN WORK:This internship is an excellent opportunity for a current graduate/undergraduate student to gain exposure to the operations of a large international organization while practicing and applying Grant Management methods to maximize the reach of IRC programming in Atlanta GA.Please note that all internship positions are unpaid.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work closely with the Grants Coordinator to review IRC Atlanta's donor prospecting strategy.
Grow a database for opportunitiesidentifiedandconduct ongoing research related to the pre-award grantopportunities.
Update grants calendar regularly.
Attend grants webinars and information sessions.
Draft grant proposal for Grant Coordinator or Development Director review.
Provide support as needed in other areas ofidentifiedprojects.
Submit intern hours on volunteer dashboard.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
Student will gain experience in grant management, which is a crucial skill to move up in the non-profit sector.
Student will learn more about the pre-award process for building a funding portfolio in a non-profit.
Student will learn the basics of proposal development and play a key role in ensuring proactive responses to business development needs.
Studentwill develop an in-depth understanding of IRC Resettlement, Asylum, & Integration programming.
Studentwill gain experience draftingand writing grantsof aligned projects.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Currently enrolled graduate student or undergraduate studentin a related fieldofInternational Relations/Development, Social Work,GlobalHuman resources, Learning andDevelopment;Non-ProfitManagement, InternationalBusiness,orother relevantfields.
Comfort with research, organizing content, and liaising with staff.
Strong writing skills.
Excellentorganizationalskills,strong communicationand interpersonal skills, and ability to collaborate.
Ability to use basic functions of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office programs
English fluencyisrequired.
REQUIREMENTS:
Mustsubmitintern hours on volunteer portal.
Must pass a background check.
Commitment of 15 hours per week for a minimum of 3 consecutive months.
