This role serves as a key financial partner to departments across the organization, overseeing federal and state grant administration, financial compliance, reporting, and project budgeting. Pay: $31.90
Responsibilities
  • Review, establish, and monitor federally and state-funded grant projects, including project setup, budget creation, and ongoing financial oversight.
  • Prepare and submit financial drawdowns, reimbursement requests, and required grant financial reports in accordance with grantor requirements.
  • Serve as a financial liaison to departments, providing guidance on grant funding, budgeting, expenditures, and compliance requirements.
  • Monitor grant activity to ensure expenditures align with approved budgets and funding restrictions.
  • Analyze, audit, and review financial records and accounting systems to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Prepare, review, and present complex financial reports, summaries, and analyses for both finance and program stakeholders.
  • Coordinate financial reporting requirements between finance staff and program managers to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
  • Utilize financial ERP systems to maintain grant, project, and financial records and reporting.
  • Coordinate and support internal and external audit activities.
  • Identify trends, discrepancies, or irregularities in financial data and develop corrective action recommendations.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budget revenue and expenditure estimates.
  • Develop and improve accounting processes, systems, and procedures to increase efficiency and effectiveness.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration (with accounting coursework), or a related field.
  • Minimum of four years of professional accounting, auditing, grants management, or related financial experience.
  • Strong finance and accounting background with experience managing grant-funded programs and projects.
  • Experience preparing grant budgets, financial reports, reimbursement requests, and drawdowns.
  • Working knowledge of federal and state grant regulations, compliance requirements, and reporting standards.
  • Experience working within financial ERP systems and reporting platforms.
  • Ability to collaborate with diverse departments and communicate financial concepts to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
  • Grant writing and grant administration experience preferred.
  • Advanced analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment background and drug screening requirements.

This is a temporary position at the City of Wichita, with the goal of permanent hire within a year of employment.
