Job description

Position Summary:ย 

Support the cooperativeโ€™s grain division by completing the daily tasks as assigned by the Location Manager. Provide excellent customer service to customers and perform duties with a safety-first mindset.ย Safely load and unload trucks or rail cars for incoming and outgoing commodities.ย 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide a high level of customer service by displaying courteous, helpful, and knowledgeable interaction and behaviors.ย 
  • Unload, load and transfer grain and grain products including truck or rail car operations.ย 
  • Operate skid loader and forklift on a regular basis and in a safe manner.ย 
  • Operate grain handling equipment including scales/moisture meter/dryers.ย 
  • Monitor equipment to ensure it is in good working order, participate in the overall maintenance and repair of the facility and equipment - notify management of any necessary repairs or possible equipment concerns.ย 
  • Understand the proper operation of conveyance equipment that is utilized in the shipping, receiving, and transferring of grain and grain products and the associated safety systems of that equipment.ย 
  • Housekeeping as related, but not limited to, the cleanliness and orderliness of the grain handling area (tunnels, concrete grounds, grass areas, etc.), as well as any areas within the plant as delegated by the Location Manager.ย ย 
  • Work safely within company policy, procedures, and governmental regulations and fully participate in company safety programs.ย 
  • Be an involved/engaged member of a team and be willing to act and think independently.
  • Assist at other United Cooperative locations outside of your home base when assigned.ย 
  • Other duties as assigned.ย 

Qualifications:

  • Must be safety minded and willing to learn.
  • Must have excellent people skills, with the ability to collaborate with a team.ย 
  • Must be able to multi-task in a fast-moving environment.ย 
  • Ability to work long hours during the busy grain season and available for unloading of trains when they arrive which varies. ย 

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:

  • This job operates in an outdoor environment. There is exposure to grain dust, weather elements, and heavy truck and machinery activity.ย 
  • The employee will regularly be required to stand, walk, reach, climb, and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces, climb ladders, handle heights, and work in all weather conditions.ย
