Job Description:

L3Harris is seeking a dedicated Software Engineering Manager to join our innovative technology team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in developing and enhancing software solutions that contribute to the strategic objectives of our organization. This position involves working collaboratively within a dynamic environment to design, develop, and maintain software applications that are critical to our operations and customer satisfaction.

Essential Functions:

  • Manage and lead a team (6 to 14) responsible for the design, development, integration, test, and sustainment of software products.
  • Establish team priorities, allocate resources, and ensure execution to cost, schedule, and technical objectives.
  • Provide employee leadership including hiring, coaching, performance management, and development.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams and program leadership to deliver compliant, high-quality software solutions.
  • Manage risks, staffing, technical issues, and process improvement activities across the software lifecycle.
  • Ensure adherence to engineering processes, customer requirements, and applicable standards.
  • Perform Control Account Manager (CAM) duties on program by participating in detail planning, monitoring and providing progress status, explaining variances, and ensuring the team delivers first time quality deliverables within budget and schedule.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree(Computer Science or Software Engineering) and minimum 9 years prior related experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
  • Experience supporting Department of Defense, aerospace, or other government customers.
  • Requires management and leadership knowledge in job area.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methods, DevSecOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and modern software toolchains.
  • Experience supporting proposals, basis of estimates, strategic staffing, and resource forecasting.
  • Be able to obtain and keep a security clearance., i.e., a TS//SCI

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Knowledge of Windows and UNIX based platforms (examples CENTOS/ROCKY/RHEL 8)
  • Familiarity with software patterns and modern design methodology (UML)
  • Proficient at JavaFX/Java, C#, C++ or another programming language
  • Knowledge of software control mechanisms (examples BitBucket, Git)
  • Knowledge of task/problem tracking systems (example JIRA)
  • Knowledge of continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines (examples Jenkins, GitHub).
  • Experience with NIST 800-53 standards and cross domain solutions.
  • Expert at Linux cyber security practices, notably in SELinux (MAC) and other areas (DAC configuration, auditing, integrity monitoring (fapolicyd), iptables, systemd services (e.g., seccomp).
