Job Description:

The Software Quality Engineer is responsible for creating end-to-end test plans, executing the test plan, and managing all activities in the plan as part of and in conjunction with an Agile Scrum development team to ensure that all objectives are met and the software solution works as expected. The solution should be tested in terms of functionality, performance, stability, and compatibility with legacy and/or third party software and integrated external hardware.

The objective of the Software Quality Engineer is to ensure that testing of every feature of the software solution and through every phase of development is well defined, planned, and executed. The work of the Software Quality Engineer should inspire confidence that any potential issue has been identified and addressed prior to release of the software solution.ย  The Software Quality Engineer, Specialist Level is a seasoned and experienced professional with proficient job area knowledge and practical knowledge of project management, managing projects and processes under general supervision to achieve operational targets with moderate impact on departmental results.

Essential Functions:

ย ย ย ย ย  Review functional and design specifications to ensure full understanding of individual deliverables.

ย ย ย ย ย  Identify test requirements from Conditions of Acceptance, map test case requirements, and design test coverage plan.

ย ย ย ย ย  Develop, document and maintain functional test cases and other test artifacts such as test plans, test summaries, and process documents as needed.

ย ย ย ย ย  Execute and evaluate manual test cases and report test results.

ย ย ย ย ย  Hold and facilitate test case reviews with cross-functional team members.

ย ย ย ย ย  Advocate for and provide quality leadership on assigned program(s).

ย ย ย ย ย  Identify any potential quality issues per defined process and escalate potential quality issues immediately to Product Owners.

ย ย ย ย ย  Keep team and stakeholders informed of project QA progress and emergent risks.

ย ย ย ย ย  Ensure that validated deliverables meet functional and design specifications and requirements via Functional, Regression, Performance, Stress, and Endurance Testing.

ย ย ย ย ย  Isolate, replicate, and report defects and verify defect fixes via Exploratory, and Usability Testing in addition to above testing methods.

ย ย ย ย ย  Seek opportunities for improvement in quality, including but not limited to efficiency gains and expanding test coverage.

ย ย ย ย ย  Assists and guides less experienced Software Quality Engineers in the responsibilities listed above.

ย ย ย ย ย  Engage as an active participant in Scrum ceremonies.

ย ย ย ย ย  Required to perform other appropriate duties as requested, directed, or assigned.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
