Are you a student or recent graduate with a passion for plants and a keen interest in research?
We have an incredible internship opportunity right in the heart of Castle Hayne, near beautiful
Wilmington, NC, that's perfect for you!
What We Offer:
  • Thriving Blueberry Research: Dive into the world of blueberry breeding research at the
    NCSU Horticultural Crops Research Station! Your journey will encompass the
    greenhouse and shade house, where you'll nurture and care for these amazing plants.
  • Hands-On Learning: Get your hands dirty as you assist in maintaining healthy plants,
    inventory management, harvesting, data collection, pollination, transplanting, pruning,
    weeding, and fertilizing. Attention to detail and previous greenhouse and fieldwork
    experience is a plus!
  • Fieldwork Adventures: Experience the great outdoors with planting, harvesting, and field
    data collection. Physical stamina and a love for outdoor tasks are important qualities we
    seek.
  • Office Contributions: Sharpen your organizational skills with office tasks, including data
    entry and image labeling for our exciting machine learning project. Candidates with an
    interest in data science are welcome!
  • Flexible Hours: We understand that you're a student or recent graduate with other
    commitments. Our internship offers flexible scheduling between 7 am and 6 pm on
    weekdays, allowing you to balance your academic or personal responsibilities.
  • Part-Time: Your internship will start with 10-20 hours per week from September through
    March, and then increase to 20+ hours per week from April to August, ensuring you gain
    valuable experience without overwhelming your schedule.
