Position Overview
Warner University Athletics seeks a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to serve as a Graduate Assistant in Sports Information. This position is designed for candidates pursuing a master’s degree at Warner University and provides hands-on experience in athletic communications, sports media relations, digital content creation, and game-day operations. The Graduate Assistant will play a vital role in promoting Warner’s 20+ NAIA athletic programs within The Sun Conference and nationally.
Responsibilities
Assist with daily operations of the Sports Information Office.
Serve as the primary media contact for assigned sports.
Create and distribute press releases, game recaps, and feature stories.
Maintain and update statistics, rosters, schedules, and records in NAIA/Sun Conference systems (PrestoStats, SideArm Sports, etc.).
Manage game-day operations, including official scoring, live stats, and live streaming.
Assist in content creation for social media platforms, website, and graphic design projects.
Produce digital media content such as highlight videos, interviews, and promotional pieces.
Coordinate with coaches, athletes, and conference officials on sports information needs.
Support the development of media guides, game programs, and marketing materials.
Mentor and oversee student workers and volunteers on game days.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Sports Information.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required; enrollment in a Warner University graduate program is required for assistantship.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Experience with statistical software (PrestoSports, DakStats, StatCrew, NCAA LiveStats) preferred.
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Premiere Pro) or comparable programs is highly desirable.
Familiarity with social media strategy and content creation (X/Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook).
Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays in accordance with the athletic calendar.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask in fast-paced environments.
