Job description

Calling all new grads interested in Information Technology!

General Dynamics Electric Boat provides an unparalleled learning experience for college students, offering practical exposure in the defense industry alongside expert engineers, shaping the future of submarine innovation.

IT professionals at Electric Boat work collaboratively across departments and with our customer to develop innovative solutions for the United States Navy’s nuclear submarines. You will be exposed to various engineering activities with the support of our senior staff. This program grants our trainees the opportunity to develop valuable skills and dive into cutting-edge projects such as leading the Columbia Class design and enhancing Virginia Class submarines. You will be exposed to a wealth of knowledge in order to excel in the engineering domain.

Participation in this program requires medical screening, passing a drug test, and potential DOD Investigation

This is not a fully remote opportunity.

All applicants have the potential to be placed at any of the following locations: Groton CT, New London CT, North Kingstown RI, Newport RI, North Stonington CT

The Information Technology Department is seeking highly motivated computer engineers to support various subgroups of IT within the organization including:

  • Software engineering group (SEG) - The group's objective is to develop and deploy computer-aided automation tools to maximize the net savings to the company. The group is predominantly working on the development of custom automation within EB's newest CAD and PLM tool (this consists of developing automated CAD views, labels and dimensions, design and manufacturing interfaces, rules based automations, etc).
  • IT Infrastructure group - supports the inner workings of Electric Boat data and business systems(Networks/Servers/Desktop/Storage) in a fast paced defense environment.
  • Cyber Security and compliance - will help monitor all systems for vulnerabilities and either repair the vulnerabilities or develop remediation plans for them when necessary. They will support the other system administrators with hardware and software certifications.
  • Systems engineering - working with business customers to gather and document requirements for changes to EB business systems.  Supporting areas include engineering, operations, warehousing and planning.
  • Project management office – join the group helping manage the various IT projects providing new tools and capabilities with both software and hardware solutions.
  • Finance and procurement team – this critical group is helping plan and procure the software and hardware for new projects as well as existing operations and maintenance
  • User production support – immerse yourself in user support by becoming a subject matter expert in the design and engineering tools while support the core customers

Required:

  • US citizenship is required.
  • Bachelor's or Master's of Science degree in IT, Computer Science or Engineering OR a Bachelor's Degree 
  • Less than 1 year of post-graduate experience 

Preferred:

  • Internship, co-op, senior design project, research, or other project experience
  • Involvement in clubs, sports, or other campus activities
