Additionally, you'll gain insight into workplace culture and industry expectations, making the transition from student to professional smoother.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Graduate Intern, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Graduate Intern, you typically need a relevant academic background, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and a willingness to learn. Familiarity with industry-specific software, productivity tools like Microsoft Office, and sometimes basic programming or data analysis tools can be advantageous. Proactive communication, adaptability, and teamwork are standout soft skills that enhance your ability to contribute and grow. These skills and qualities are crucial as they enable interns to quickly integrate, maximize learning, and add value to the organization.

What is a graduate internship?

A graduate internship is a temporary, practical work experience opportunity offered to recent graduates or students who have completed their undergraduate or postgraduate studies. It allows individuals to gain hands-on experience in their chosen field, develop professional skills, and build a network of industry contacts. Job description

314 Action is a grassroots community powered by over 400,000 donors working to elect Democratic scientists and other STEM candidates who will use science and facts to address some of our most pressing issues like climate change and health care.

Since its inception in 2016, 314 has quickly become a leader nationally with its unique focus on candidate recruitment and early-stage candidate support.

314 Action is the only national organization dedicated to recruiting, training, and electing Democrats scientists and STEM professionals. In 2024, 314 Action raised and spent over $14 million to flip three House seats, elect four new Democratic doctors and scientists, and win 225 state and local races in 46 states. Six of seven of our House members elected in 2024 came from our downballot program. In 2025, 107 of our STEM candidates were elected to local and state legislative offices across the country, including in key states like New Jersey and Virginia.

75% of our 2026 endorsed STEM candidates identify as women, people of color, or LGBTQ+. This cycle we are already working with 300+ STEM candidates running nationwide in competitive red to blue districts, gubernatorial races, and key races flying under the radar. In total, 314 has endorsed over 1000 candidates at all levels of the ballot resulting in hundreds of new STEM electeds.

Interns are paid $18.40/hr and we are happy to work with them to secure academic credit for their work. Interns will work a hybrid office schedule and are expected to come in person to the office located in downtown D.C. for part of their internship. A transit benefit is available for interns as they report to the D.C. office. All interns receive company-issued laptops for the duration of their internships.

This internship is perfect for recent graduates or current students who are interested in getting experience with a national political organization or working on campaigns.
