OVERVIEW

Merrick & Company seeks a Mechanical Engineering undergraduate or graduate student for a paid Summer 2027 Internship in our Oak Ridge, Tennessee office. Imagine working on rewarding client projects and being exposed to unparalleled training and development opportunities!

Merrickโ€™s Summer Internship Program offers meaningful, hands-on experience for students. Designed as a shorter-term, exploratory experience, internships allow students to apply what theyโ€™re learning in school while gaining exposure to real projects, professional collaboration, and day-to-day life at an employee-owned company.

The summer internship has a commitment of approximately mid-May through mid-August 2027.ย 


WHAT YOU'LL DO

The program allows interns to gain technical experience in detailed machine design and fabrication, 3D modeling in CREO (Pro/Engineer), drawing creation in CREO, material selection, calculations in Mathcad and CREO Simulation, piping systems, and exposure to ASME NQA-1 quality requirements.

The intern will collaborate with other disciplines, interface with engineers, designers, and clients, follow schedules and budget commitments, work independently and in a team environment.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must have graduation date after August 2027 to be eligible.
  • Must be pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering from an A.B.E.T. accredited program.
  • Must be currently enrolled and entering junior year or higher of undergraduate degree or currently enrolled in grad school.
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to problem solve.
  • Client projects for this position require U.S. Citizenship

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Creo (strongly preferred), SolidWorks, Revit, CADworx or other 3D modeling packages.
  • Previous internship in Mechanical Engineering.
