Job description

The University of Evansville Athletics Department is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Graduate Assistant (GA) for the Swim & Dive program. This is an exceptional opportunity for a motivated individual to gain immersive, hands-on experience in the operations of a Division I athletic program.
As a Graduate Assistant, you will work closely with our coaching staff to support every facet of the team, from athlete development and recruitment to program administration and marketing. If you are passionate about the sport of swimming and diving and are looking to launch a career in collegiate athletics, we invite you to join our team of Purple Aces.
Key Responsibilities
The Graduate Assistant role is comprehensive, designed to provide a broad foundation in collegiate athletic management. Your main duties will include:
  • Athletic & Academic Support: Assist with the recruitment and retention of academically and athletically qualified student-athletes.
  • Practice & Game Coaching: Actively participate in practice planning, preparation, and on-deck coaching.
  • Operations & Logistics: Manage critical behind-the-scenes tasks, including film exchange and editing, team travel logistics, and statistical analysis.
  • Program Development: Lead efforts in camp and clinic business development, community service coordination, and overall program administration.
  • Marketing & Communications: Drive marketing, promotions, and social networking initiatives to elevate the program's visibility.
  • Campus Engagement: Build strong, positive relationships with student-athletes, faculty, and University staff to ensure a supportive environment.

Required Qualifications
  • Education: A Bachelor's Degree is required with a minimum 3.0 GPA. (Applicants must provide an unofficial transcript).
  • Certifications: Current CPR, AED, and/or First Aid certifications, as well as Lifeguard Certification, are required.
  • Attributes: Strong organizational skills, a collaborative team-first attitude, and the ability to thrive in a high-paced collegiate environment.
  • Availability: Must be able to work some nights and weekends and travel with the team as required.
