About Us

We are a growing heavy civil construction company specializing in highway, site development, utility, paving, bridge, and drainage projects throughout the region. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Estimator to join our team and play a key role in preparing accurate, competitive bids that contribute to our continued success.

Position Summary

The Estimator is responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates and bid proposals for public and private construction projects. This position analyzes plans, specifications, and contract documents to determine labor, equipment, material, subcontractor, and overhead costs required to successfully complete projects.

Key Responsibilities

Review project plans, specifications, special provisions, and contract documents.

Perform quantity takeoffs for earthwork, utilities, asphalt paving, concrete, drainage structures, erosion control, and related construction activities.

Solicit, evaluate, and compare subcontractor and supplier quotations.

Prepare detailed project estimates including labor, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and overhead costs.

Develop production rates and project schedules to support estimate development.

Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits as required.

Prepare and submit electronic bids through state and local bidding platforms.

Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, suppliers, and owners throughout the bidding process.

Analyze project risks and identify opportunities to improve profitability.

Maintain estimating databases, cost histories, and bid records.

Participate in project handoff meetings for awarded work.

Assist with contract reviews, change order pricing, and project budgeting when needed.

Communicate with agencies, municipalities, engineers, and consultants regarding project requirements and bid questions.

Manage multiple bid opportunities while meeting strict deadlines.

Qualifications

Required

Experience in heavy civil construction estimating.

Knowledge of roadway construction, utilities, grading, drainage, asphalt paving, and site development.

Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and contract documents.

Experience with estimating and takeoff software.

Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills.

Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred

Field construction experience in heavy civil operations.

Experience bidding public works projects.

Familiarity with INDOT projects and specifications.

Experience with HCSS HeavyBid, Agtek, Bluebeam, or similar estimating software.
