The Opportunity:
Tetra Tech is adding a Junior Civil Engineer to support energy transition projects throughout Upstate New York and surrounding regions. The successful candidate will support multiple projects with a focus on stormwater management, grading design, construction oversight, and renewable energy development, including solar and battery energy storage projects.
This role offers the opportunity to work on a variety of renewable energy, electrical infrastructure, environmental remediation, and due diligence projects within a collaborative consulting environment.
Location: Rochester, Syracuse, or Albany, NY

Essential Job Functions:
  • Support engineering design for:
    • Renewable energy projects
    • Solar and battery energy storage systems (BESS)
    • Civil/site development projects
  • Perform construction monitoring activities
  • Conduct stormwater compliance inspections
  • Assist with stormwater management and grading design efforts
  • Support project teams with technical documentation and project coordination
  • Participate in limited client communications and coordination efforts
  • Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.
  • Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
  • Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns.
  • Additional duties as required.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in:
    • Civil Engineering, or
    • Environmental Engineering
  • 1-4 years of professional experience
  • Proficiency with:
    • AutoCAD Civil 3D
    • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with ArcGIS
  • Experience with:
    • Stormwater management and inspections
    • Construction oversight
    • Site development projects
  • Prior experience supporting:
    • Solar energy projects
    • Battery energy storage projects

Compensation:
Pay commensurate with experience.
Pay Range: $65,000-$75,000 annually
