Position Description
SEEKING: Project Manager/Project Engineer (PM/PE), Wildish Standard Paving Co. for Portland (Fairview)
OVERVIEW: Wildish Standard Paving Co. is a division of the Wildish Group of Companies headquartered in Eugene with an area office in Fairview. Wildish, a family-owned company, has been a trusted and reputable name since its founding in 1935. Our rich history and deep experience have made us one of the most diversified and sought after companies in Oregon . We construct heavy civil projects both large and small for a wide range of primarily public clients, specializing in excavation, grading, underground, asphalt/concrete and bridges.
REPORTS TO: General Superintendent and Manager (Project Engineer may also report to Project Manager)
PRIMARY FUNCTION: PM/PE is responsible to provide the engineering and business sides of contractual obligations while interfacing with field supervisors/superintendents/personnel and the general superintendent/manager to efficiently and safely complete Wildish contracts on time and within budget. Field support often expected.
Duties:
  • Responsible for budgeting, daily timecard reviews, ordering materials, initiating subcontracts, approving billings and securing payments for work completed. Supports supervisors/superintendents to review, analyze and resolve field construction problems and discrepancies in line with plans, specifications and standards.
  • Other administrative tasks include but not limited to: manage submittals, process RFIs, document control, assist in cost control, and be the primary person to generate weekly and CPM schedules for projects.
  • Must be able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Work includes perform quantity take-offs, price change orders and participate on teams that estimate new work.

Position Requirements
Skills:
  • Five years of heavy civil and/or bridge experience
  • Computer knowledge and efficiency, including Microsoft Office products and scheduling software
  • Familiar with heavy civil work: excavation, grading, underground, asphalt/concrete, bridges
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and leadership skills -- Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Function effectively within the team
  • Read and understand project documents including plans, contracts, special provisions, standard specifications, subcontracts and purchase orders
  • Previous Viewpoint/HCSS Heavy Bid & Heavy Job experience preferred, but not required

This position is salaried. Compensation depends on experience.
Salary range for Project Engineer is $90,000-$120,000
Salary Range for Project Manager is $120,000- $150,000
