Position Title:

Student Worker - Marketing & Communications Video Assistant (Work-Study or Non-Work Study)

Job Description:

The Mount St. Mary's University Office of University Marketing & Communications is seeking a creative and dependable student video assistant to support the various video projects the marketing and communications office generates. This individual will mainly assist in editing together short form video content to elevate the university's social media presence across digital platforms.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the main Video Editor in creating high-qualityand engaging video content for various social media channels, including YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok
  • Edit, cut, and assemble raw footage and add visual effects, graphics, music, and sound effects to create lively and engaging videos
  • Upload or schedule completed videos to post on social media with tactful and authenticate descriptions, hashtags, and titles
  • Ensure all videos adhere to brand guidelines and maintain a consistent look and feel
  • Manage and organize video files and assets
  • Stay up to date with social media trends and techniques to continually improve the quality of our videos
  • Attend video shoots, when assigned, and serve as an on-set assistant
  • Perform other administrative support duties as assigned if video production tasks are limited at any given time.

Job Requirements: Education, Experience and Skills:

  • 1-2 years of experience in video editing and in using video editing software, such as Adobe Premiere Pro or CapCut
  • Proficient in audio editing, color grading, and keyframe animation
  • Proficient in use of Mac products
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • A creative eye and attention to detail
  • A strong understanding of pacing and the ability to edit in sync with the narrative flow of video storytelling
  • Must provide a link to your online portfolio or samples of previous video work

Salary/Hours

  • Students are paid the current minimum wage for Maryland
  • Students will work a maximum of eight (8) hours per week
  • We will work with schedules to ensure there are no conflicts with classes/sports
