Academic Services Specialist

Description of Work - The Academic Services Specialist will perform detailed verifications of major, minor, and degree requirements for the undergraduate colleges using the degree management system while maintaining a well-developed knowledge of degree requirements and office procedures. This position will work with college deans' offices, faculty, and advisers concerning students' graduation requirements and substitution/waivers. Perform accurate and timely proofing of graduation related materials including diplomas and program content, and assist with commencement preparations and ceremony student check-in. In addition, the Academic Services Specialist will provide overall registrar customer service support to the campus by helping students with the enrollment process, troubleshooting issues and alleviating concerns. Support the campus community in connecting degree requirements, degree pathway building, and enrollment. Provide student customer service for transcripts, verifications, and other needed documents. Assist Faculty and Staff with questions regarding class schedule, grading, and other inquiries. This position will provide support for general office customer service duties related to academic services via phone, email, and other means of communication. The Academic Services Specialist will maintain students' academic records. Scan images of student records into the document retention system. Review transfer credit and other documentation in students' academic records. Additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Required Qualifications - Associates degree and one year of customer experience, equivalent education and experience considered. Must have computer proficiency in office applications. Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications - Prefer bachelor's degree; High volume data entry experience. Experience working with academic policies and procedures. Ability to print, read and interpret degree audits. Familiarity with PeopleSoft (MyRed) system.
