Job description

MSD of Shakamak is seeking a caring, dependable, and flexible substitute teachers to support our elementary students when classroom teachers are absent. Substitute teachers play a vital role in maintaining a positive learning environment and ensuring instructional continuity.


Whether you are an experienced educator, retired teacher, recent college graduate, or someone passionate about working with children, we encourage you to apply.


Responsibilities

*Provide instruction using lesson plans prepared by the classroom teacher.

*Maintain a safe, respectful, and engaging classroom environment.

*Supervise students throughout the school day, including transitions, lunch, recess, and other assigned duties.

*Encourage positive student behavior while following district and classroom expectations.

*Adapt to various classroom settings and grade levels as needed.

*Communicate effectively with building administration and staff.

*Leave clear notes for the classroom teacher regarding the day's activities.

*Follow all district policies, procedures, and confidentiality requirements.


Qualifications

*Must meet Indiana Substitute teacher requirements and hold or be eligible for an Indiana Substitute Teacher Permit.

*High school diploma required; additional education preferred in accordance with Indiana Department of Education licensing requirements.

*Strong communication and organizational skills.

*Ability to establish positive relationships with students and staff.

*Ability to manage a classroom effectively.

*Successful completion of required background checks.


Preferred Qualifications

*Previous experience working with elementary-aged children.

*Experience in educational, childcare, youth development, or related settings.

*Flexible and dependable with a positive attitude.
