Job description

JOB: Child Nutrition Substitute
DUTY DAYS: Varies
PAY GRADE: $10.00/hour

 

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

 

The Child Nutrition Substitute is assigned to various job duties including meal production, serving and cleaning.  School assignments may vary on a day-to-day basis.  Substitutes are assigned where needed.

  • The ability to read and follow oral instructions.
 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

 
  1. Follow National School Breakfast and Lunch Program guidelines.
  2. Prepare or assist in preparation of vegetables, salads, meats and/or bakery items, while following standardized recipes.
  3. Assist with cashiering duties as needed.
  4. Serve menu items to customers on serving lines, according to offer vs serve guidelines.
  5. Assist with cleaning in dish room, kitchen and serving lines.
  6. Sweep and mop floors.
  7. Store food items and supplies properly; maintain a clean and organized storage area.
  8. Demonstrate knowledge of the proper care and use of equipment.
  9. Assist with trash removal
  10. Follow health department and HACCP standard operating procedures for cleanliness and food safety.
  11. Follow department procedures to promote a safe work environment.
  12. Assume responsibilities of other absent employees as needed.
  13. Be willing and able to work on a replacement basis at any campus.
  14. Arrive on time for work and practice good attendance, while working the schedule assigned.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisory staff.

Physical Demands:      
During your entire scheduled work hours you must be physically able to:
  • Stand and walk on hard surface floor unassisted, continually, for at least three hours;
  • Walk briskly.
  • Push and pull carts.
  • Stoop, bend, kneel, and climb.
  • Lift up to 35 pounds.
  • Must be able to load and unload products at a maximum height of 67 inches.
  • Climb a 6 foot ladder.
 

            
Environment:
Moderate to heavy exposure to hold/cold temperatures, steam, wet floors and cleaning chemicals. The Pasadena ISD is a tobacco, alcohol, and drug-free workplace.
