GOVERNMENT RELATIONS STRATEGIST

POSITION SUMMARY
The Government Relations Strategist advances and supports BayCare Health System's government relations agenda. Reporting to the the Federal Government Relations Manager and working alongside the director of government relations, state government relations manager, and fellow government relations strategist, this role is responsible for planning, supporting, and implementing that agenda, including developing advocacy strategy.
A central focus of this position is hands-on advocacy, at the local and federal levels. The ideal candidate understands the levers to pull at various levels of government to influence positive outcomes for BayCare's team members and patients.
REQUIREMENTS
Experience
  • Required: 3+ years in Government Relations, Legislative and/or Regulatory Process, Advocacy, Public Relations, Health Care Policy, or Public Health
  • Preferred: 5+ years in one or more of the areas above

Education
  • Required: Bachelor's in Political Science, Public Health, Communications, or a related field
  • Preferred: Master's in Political Science, Public Health, Communications, or a related field

Skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills (essential)
  • Research and policy analysis expertise
  • Strong interpersonal skills

Travel
  • Travel to Washington, D.C. and Tallahassee as needed
  • Travel to BayCare hospitals and facilities across our five-county footprint: Hillsborough, Manatee Pasco, Pinellas, and Polk
